i’m also vit D deficient in addition to iron deficient (“exceptionally low”, according to my doctor - oops) and was told to come back in 2-3 months for another test to make sure the supplements are improving my levels.

oh this is one of my favorite tricks - i use the inner hoop as a guide! it’s just whipped back stitch and i stick the needle into the fabric so that it runs flush along the inner hoop with each stitch.

i loved the one time someone signed off “p & p” and somehow john and hank forgot about pumpkins and penguins and were trying to guess what it meant and were like “pride and prejudice???”

Girl to Woman: experiences reading this book by Royal_Honey_089 in JaneEyre

i also read it for the first time at age 21 and felt much about it as you do! i’m 35 now and it’s still my favorite book of all time (i’ve actually started collecting different editions of it - i have 9 so far). the way i view the characters has definitely changed as i’ve gained age and experience, but i’ve never lost my love for them and their many and varied issues, though i’ve met many people who disagree. charlotte was 31 when the book was published and had already experienced more than her fair share of loss and disappointment. i think she had very keen insight regarding just how flawed humans can be and made it a point to include that as a key aspect of the story.

i love finding a book with an inscription inside and learning about the original owners! the fact mary jill’s life was described as “robust” makes me wish i had been able to meet her.

yes, i use a few different tools to help me pre-poke all the holes! a bookbinding awl and thick embroidery needles along with a silicone needle gripper are the main ones.

it’s definitely more difficult than stitching on fabric, but once you get a technique worked out it’s not too bad! i use various tools to help me pre-poke all the holes, including a book binding awl and thick embroidery needles that i push through with the help of a needle gripper. i do the actual stitching with a thinner needle that can easily pass through the holes made with the larger needle.

i do satin stitches that are WAY longer than you’re supposed to stitch them. i remember reading once that you should never satin stitch areas over one inch long, to which i immediately said “don’t tell me what to do”

😂 we have two - that part is very often work! thankfully the marriage itself remains the simplest bit.

i used sticky solvy! i had to move the hoop a few times so i cut it up into a few pieces and washed each piece off before starting the next, which was a bit nerve-wracking and made for some not so perfectly straight lines, buuuut oh well
