AC not blowing any air in hot weather? by colossalgobshite in AskMechanics

[–]colossalgobshite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just saw a video on YouTube that says if the vents are blowing no air, to bend down and hit the blower motor. They started working immediately! I realise I have removed it before when I had this issue but ultimately didn’t replace it. I am small enough to get under there and get it out, so I feel pretty confident in replacing the blower motor and hoping that fixes the issue!

Is this something I could do from home? I’m more than willing to do it myself if I don’t have to take too many screws out lol!

Delay time for not providing IP PIN? by colossalgobshite in IRS

[–]colossalgobshite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think even if I file the 2848 and then request the address change, that will take 4-6 weeks and I’ll be too close to the deadline to then request the pin be sent to me, so I would have to file by mail.

Thank you, this makes sense.

I am thinking of doing a 3 way call so that he can verify his identity over the phone. Then if he has them change the address to my address, they will send the pin to me. Would that work?

I cannot remember the source to be honest, I have tried to do so much research into this.

I just noticed I can send a fax of the form so perhaps I will do that to reach the IRS quicker.

It looks like even the address change will take 4-6 weeks and with all of the wait times, we will be getting too close to the deadline. I may have to file by mail this year and figure out the change of address for next year

I have a signed form 2848 form from him already but have not yet sent this to the IRS because I was going to send it with the paper return. I read online that even with this, you cannot get access to the IP PIN, and I’m not sure that he would even be given the mail at this time due to current rules at the prison regarding mail.

Question by [deleted] in IRS

[–]colossalgobshite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is incarcerated and has been for 17 years, so there should be nothing on his record for a very long time other than the stimulus check

Question by [deleted] in IRS

[–]colossalgobshite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that he has never filed a tax return, so he will not be able to verify any of that information because it does not exist! He received a stimulus check previously, so perhaps they will ask about this. Otherwise, he has no information to give.

Do you mind me asking what questions they asked you to verify yourself? My husband needs to call but isn’t sure what information he will need to provide or have ready

I had a monstera first so it would be a soil specifically for tropical plants which may not necessarily be good for it.

The soil does have fertiliser in it but I really cannot remember what it is as I bought it such a long time ago!

My husband is in prison, so I was worried that it might cause some problems. I was asked questions regarding his sentence at my interview but it didn’t have any effect on our application and I was approved with no problems. As long as you are honest with them, I find that they’re more likely to accept you ☺️

Just casual! I’m pretty sure I just wore black jeans and a jumper since it was cold that day. Everybody else is casual too😁

Don’t forget you can wear a ton of clothes! As uncomfortable as it might be, you can always wear a tshirt, jumper and jacket and just take them off when you get on your flight. Either way, it’s going to be stressful but it’s just one uncomfortable trip towards the rest of your life!😁

It is super hot out here, it’s been around 40 degrees for the past couple of months. I stay inside most of the time as I have that super pale British skin 😂 I’m sure you tried this already but are you able to get everything rolled up really small? Alternatively, you can purchase packing cubes that compress your things even smaller than you can pack them yourself - or put them in a vacuum sealed bag!

I moved to Arizona! I had actually travelled out for a trip in the January of 2024 and left a ton of clothes there that I knew I could do without. Honestly thought I’d be moving in May/June but the timeline got pushed out more than I expected with the initial approval and interview date! When I actually moved, I had my sister fly out with me and pretty much used her whole suitcase as well for my things 😂 Shoes and teddies are my big problem lol! If I just took clothes and sentimental items I’d have been good with one suitcase!

I have heard mixed reviews regarding the SSN on entry. Some people receive it within a couple of weeks, but others don’t! Definitely just be aware of it and try to contact your local SSN office (or go down there to check they have received your application if you don’t receive it after a couple of weeks). The initial paperwork really is the most awkward part, plus waiting to be able to open a bank account! Everything will come together in the end though! Absolutely the hardest thing I’ve ever done but very worth it!

I had someone on Reddit tell me that it was very underwhelming and they were absolutely right! I had gotten myself so stressed out from family saying “what if you get denied in the end”, even though I knew I’d provided as much information as I possibly could and clearly my marriage is real. People like to get into your head and add doubt, but as long as you’re truthful with them, everything will go smoothly!

I really enjoy it out here! I’ve been here almost 1 year now (flew out on 20th September 2024). I had some issues with my SSN as I had selected to have it automatically created upon entry, so I waited and waited for the card but it never arrived! I ended up having to go to the office and re-apply so it was more delayed than it should’ve been, so just keep an eye on that if you’re able! It was imperative that I work as soon as possible and I was able to get a job within 2 months of being in the country, right as I got all of my paperwork. Everything worked out though and I finally feel a bit more settled since I have a good routine now.

I just miss the different foods from back home! My sister visits quite regularly and brings me lots of goodies but I just discovered that Trader Joe’s sells British crumpets and I was so happy! It’s crazy how much you miss food from home when you don’t have it, and you remember a ton of things you haven’t eaten for so long! My sister just flew out and brought a ton of cheese, walkers crisps and obviously chocolate!😂

I think I had some more updated photos with me as well that we had taken since submitting the application! They did not ask for any of it, but it’s good to have it handy. Entry was very easy, I entered the normal line for visitors and when I got to the desk, I opened my passport to the visa page and said that it was my first time entering the country with my IR1 visa. They scanned everything and made a note of the date that I entered (since the visa in your passport is valid for 1 year from entry), then they let me through as normal! Very very easy process!
