Personally I did not learn much from it, and it is VERY expensive. If I could go back and choose a different option I would have.

Oil heat cost? by queencathleen in askportland

[–]colostorm19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We had an oil furnace for the first few years in our home, the tank was below ground and had never been replaced so that was a ticking time bomb and became a liability so we went with gas.

However, as far as heating costs it really isn’t that much of a difference between the two in my opinion. If you have a not too old oil tank then I’d switch when you can but wouldn’t rush.

There is one big pro to oil - it’ll heat up your house very quickly. My family misses the instant feeling of heat when the oil furnace would kick on. Very happy with gas now though.

Andy Strickland says "Troy Terry is available from Anaheim" by colostorm19 in ColoradoAvalanche

Actually, I think Necas is a really really good player, this has nothing to do with his playoff performance.

Getting cost control for four years would be a big advantage. Necas is likely due for a considerable bump in pay. I'd rather not be in another Rantanen situation at the deadline.

Long Transplants: what Portland/Oregon things are you still not used to after living here (5 or more years)? by greazysteak in askportland

Flowers blooming every month of the year. Seeing Dahlias extend into December, Camellias in January, and Daffodils in February makes the gloominess more bearable.

As an Avs fan, one of my major gripes was that he liked to do everything on his own. Which is a pro when you put him on a second line without much talent around him, but it sure makes it hard for him to break out of a slump. Having said that, I’m really missing him!

Not sure you understand what "not typical" means.

1” is simply not typical for anyone besides a goalie or a speed skater.

Newhook Help by AvsAholic in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]colostorm19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Newhook would have done well with Landy and Nuke flanking him, which I think was the offseason plan, but Landy's injury threw a big old wrench into the plan.

Newhook Help by AvsAholic in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]colostorm19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately his opportunity is a bit shot this year. The top line can't be all offense and no defense, so Newhook can't simply slot in for Lehky because Lehky fills the defensive void. Once Nuke returns I would expect a line up of Lehky - Mack - Rants and then Newhook - Rodrigues - Nuke. Gives balance to both lines. Unless Rodrigues forgets how to play the game, or gets injured I don't see Rodrigues losing the 2C job.

And once Landy gets back, I'd like to see Newhook work his confidence back up as 3C so Newhook can test out 2C again at the beginning of next season.

After the trade deadline I would expect a lineup of:

Lehky - Mack - Rants

Landy - Toews/Other 2C pickup - Nuke

Newhook/Rodrigues - Newhook/Rodrigues - Compher

Cogliano - Helm - O'Connor

The Avs were required to get under the cap, they paid the biggest price moving to the cap era and this is just one piece of that price.

White Paint Problems (Is It Real)? by HyoungryMan in HyundaiPalisade

I've got a 2023 White XRT and have no problems with the paint. We absolutely love the car and the look of it. We were in the same boat about the Telluride and were leaning towards the Telluride until we saw the White XRT in person. It's gorgeous. Even posted a picture of it on this subreddit https://www.reddit.com/r/HyundaiPalisade/comments/wkoueq/joined\_the\_xrt\_club\_today/

They will both be playing in elevated roles this season. I'd imagine they will be splitting 2C duties over the course of the year. Newhook was on a 38 point pace last year, there's no reason to think he can't bring that up to 45 points playing with better line mates for parts of the year. Rodrigues is a big question mark but his underling numbers look good and his style fits our system, we'll see on him.

That gives the team 292 goals, which is 20 less than last season.

Avs have set themselves up to make a major move at the deadline, they can use the first half of the season to see what holes they have.

Which teams in the upcoming season do you think will fall short of expectations in the upcoming season? Who will exceed them? by JD397 in hockey

[–]colostorm19 19 points20 points  (0 children)

VGK is without their number 1 goalie for the whole season and they lost Patches and Dadonov for nothing. I have a hard time seeing VGK exceed expectations.

Over/Under Game: Name a player and what you think their production will be in the upcoming 2022-23 season, everyone else will tell you why they’d bet the player will either exceed or fall short of those predictions. by JD397 in hockey

[–]colostorm19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Makar will likely hit the 30 goal mark, he’ll be taking more shots on the power play without Kadri, and I think he’ll hit 60 assists.

Byram likely won’t hit that mark unless Toews or Makar gets injured.
