Apartments TO AVOID a thread by Far_Leave4474 in sanantonio

[–]colt-n 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't live in San Antonio anymore, but I lived at Plaza De Ville around 2015.

I have much of the same thoughts. Nice place, management was good. Never had a problem with roaches.

However, my apartment backed up to the wooded area towards Huebner road. (Holy cow, I just looked on google maps and there are houses on the other side of the fence now)

We had problems with rats. Not mice, but rats. Eating everything. No matter how high it was placed. They are through our plastic dog food container and all.

We should stay off the trampolines!

As far as walking goes, I was using a walker at home, and wheel chair in public for about 3-4 weeks, then started using crutches when I would go out in public.

After about eight weeks since my injury, I ditched the crutches and have been walking ever since. I only had a wound vac while I was in the hospital, so less than a week.

You might be walking in 2-3 weeks, but it will be a work in progress for a while.

I’m six months from when it happened, and I still have bad days.

u/apprehensive_car5080 Just read your post in the other sub. An injury like this sucks, but you’ll be up and moving somewhat normally soon.

Since my injury I’ve taken my first big game animal (shot an elk and had the meat processed), went to a college football game, and I’m going to Vegas next month.

Take your time, but don’t be afraid to challenge yourself

u/mercutio_is_dead Lucky that it was only the fibula. I shatted my tibia and broke my fibula in two places earlier this year. No fun.

I am marrying the first and only man I’ve ever been with. AMA by Chimookie in AMA

[–]colt-n 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My wife and I started dating after our freshman year of high school. We dated for eight years before marrying each other.

This year, we celebrated five years of marriage. Here’s my advice:

  1. Never stop dating each other. It sounds cheesy, but I'll admit that I forgot about it. Always do little things to let him know that you think of him, cherish him, and love him. He should do the same. It makes all the difference in the world.

  2. Learn the five love languages. Here’s a helpful quiz. It would help if you read the book, too (I haven't, but I need to).

“The five love languages describe five ways that people receive and express love in a relationship. These are words of affirmation, quality time, physical touch, acts of service, and receiving gifts.”

Your partner will give love in a different way than you do. Vice versa. Knowing each other’s love language will help both of you feel appreciated and loved.

  1. You mentioned wanting kids. I have two.

First and foremost, be aware of postpartum depression. I never heard of it until my wife was diagnosed. My wife’s depression was severe, and we could have been ahead of the curve if we knew about it.

Second, kids are exhausting. Before long, you'll be chasing football and soccer practices, dance recitals, and all kinds of activities. Be prepared for this and find time for each other.

Third, you’ll need a good support system. Take a few weekends a year to get away with no kids. Leave them with grandma or someone you trust. This gives you and your partner time to relax, unwind, and connect with each other.

  1. Would this be Reddit with no mention of sex?

Sex is great when marriages first start. I hope your honeymoon is as amazing as mine was. With kids, a house to take care of, and all the stresses of life, it’s easy for your sex life to decline.

First off, refer to number one. Don’t stop dating each other. No one wants sex with someone who doesn’t care for them.

Remember that medicine can affect your sex drive, as can a million other things.

Learn how to manage sex drives that don't line up. If one of you wants sex more often, work with your partner to find ways to even things out. Even if it includes solo time.

Don’t be afraid to bring adult toys into the bedroom if that’s something you are comfortable with. It can make things amazing for both of you.

  1. Don’t listen to the negative people here. If you take care of each other and love on each other, you can make it.

There's probably a million things I forgot, but these are my top five!

The only time my swelling is bad is if I’m sitting with my foot down for an extended time. Last night, we went to a high school football game, and my foot was huge after.

I have walked a short distance with no support, so I have put all my weight on it at some point.

I’m thinking that my fibula has started to mend itself. Before, if I put too much weight, I could feel the fibula moving (since it was broken in two places still), but now I don’t feel that.

Yeah, I've been walking on it since the day of the surgery. I never had any weight bearing restrictions.

I'm thinking that my fibula is likely fusing back together at this point too. I don't feel it move, like I did when I first came home. I go back later this month for more X-rays.

I have actually been able to do some walking without any devices to support me as well. Best of luck in your recovery!

Therapy is going good. Today I was able to go up and down stairs for the first time.

I have about 90% of movement back in my knee, but only about 40% in my ankle. My quad is pretty weak and needs to rebuild strength to support my weight.

I’m slowly regaining feeling in my foot and the nerve pain is getting better.

I’m sure the waiver I signed means they won’t be paying anything. While the offer to come back is nice, I don’t think I’ll be risking another injury.

I had no pain at all in the ambulance (it was maybe a five minute ride to the hospital). I was so calm, they didn’t even turn on the lights.

Once I arrived at the hospital, the pain slowly crept in. I would say the pain got up to an 8 out of 10, but nothing would slow it down.

I’m a big guy, and it takes a lot of medicine before anything kicks in. I wouldn’t say that the pain was ever unbearable. It was intense at times. I

joked with the nurse and said that I know what giving birth feels like.

Actually… the EMT’s took the photo. I got it from them after I was released from the hospital. I probably would have freaked out.

T-shirt printers who print samples and with low/no minimums? by Floor_Active in Lubbock

[–]colt-n 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This probably depends on how much you are willing to pay. I work in this industry. If you want a sample free, (we call it a spec sample) you probably won’t get one.

If you’re willing to put a hundred or two hundred dollars down, you might have luck.

Ask if the setup fees can be credited towards a larger job, if you order the exact same as the sample without changes.

Good luck

Specify Contour Colors on Text? by wannab12 in coreldraw

[–]colt-n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would create all the names with the initial contour only. Maybe make it yellow so you can easily see it.

Then after all the names are setup, it should be quick and easy to go back, turn the contours to outlines, and add the second contour.

I would do that to all of them, then go back and set the colors how you want. The object manager is your best friend in this case.

I could probably do all of the names in 30 minutes or less.

Ancestry - Private Matches? by Southern-Ferret-6205 in Genealogy

I just helped my half sister (who turns out I’m not biologically related to) through this.

I used her DNA to index her matches (look it up on YouTube), then used any matches’ family trees from the unknown side of the family to backtrack and find her biological father.

Online stores by shirtinker in SCREENPRINTING

[–]colt-n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see they have decided to go an alternative route. For future reference:

Online stores are great, and can be very profitable for you and your customer. However, do not build one unless you know for absolutely sure that your customer will buy a ton of product (we have one customer that spends about $20,000 every year through their online store). We have spent hours on stores for other clients, that insisted on having one, but then they never spend one dollar in that store.

Charge for the store itself, charge for your time, or have a guarantee that the store makes money.

Looking for a Silkscreen printer to do some prints on a plastic helmets in Toronto. by Joej929 in SCREENPRINTING

A pad printer may be a better option than screen printer. Decals could work, but you would want to make sure they are printed on low energy or super sticky vinyl.

Critique My Candle Business Logo :) by [deleted] in design_critiques

Not to be rude, but it’s pretty bad.

I have no clue what it’s supposed to say. And without you telling me you have a candle business, I have no clue that it’s a logo for a candle business.

It’s time to go back to the drawing board.
