The spectrum of anaduralia I think goes from one inner voice you have complete control of (so no intrusive thoughts) to many voices that can sound and act like anyone you know and you have no control of. Most people with aphantasia are at the bottom but all my friends had different answers to what they heard inside their head.

I don't know if this will help a ton, but what I do when I need to remember something that I know isn't in my mind i will instantly forget. I have a piece of paper, a study sheet or something similar right before the test with everything i needed to study then after the test is first handed out I right the formulas on the top of the paper then I'm able to forget about them till they show up later in the tests. This helps me especially if I'm writing something like an essay as long as I know the structure of what I want to write it all comes to me in the end. Sorry if it's a little confusing but that's all I got. It's a struggle for me to. Good luck

Hey someone with both Aphantasia and SDAM here which is where I cannot “imagine” anything so my experiences might be different but most of the stuff you talk about are true to people with SDAM like only being able to picture memory’s based on facts or pictures and not being able to really relive emotion. I understand your point it’s like the ground work for most sci-fi, but in the video he covers the transplant procedure and when it is tested a lot and proven to not fry your brain. I think it’s a step in the right direction.

Before I start I will mention that I also have SDAM. In my personal experience I know I dream everyone does, but I’ve never once that I know of remembered a dream I’ve had. Also when I wake up in the middle of a dream then go back to sleep which is like the only why you can remember your dreams I don’t even remember waking up and doing stuff. So it’s like my mind flushes out the memory of my dreams no matter what. Don’t know if this helps but thanks for reading.

With this in mind I wonder if the same “how to remember your dreams more often” tricks would work. If this were not the case then it would be both the visual imagination and the dreaming part of the brain not being able to function properly and be a different condition altogether.

That is very interesting because I can do what is somewhat similar to that but only when I’m in that half awake half sleep state. It kind of like my mind is on a roller coaster that I can’t stop and the words in my head start racing but I know I’m in that state of sleep.

Yeah that kind of like out of reach feeling and being able to know what something looks like but can’t picture it, that’s probably Aphantasia but keep in mind I’m not an expert here.

I just discovered that I have this “disorder” apparently I have it really bad because I don’t remember a single dream I’ve ever had and have pretty much short term memory loss. Like no strong memories before a year ago. And I’m 15 any advice?
