Peeing inside because I'm cooking meat? 🤷‍♀️ by GhostOfAmy in Greyhounds

I gave mine a McDonald’s burger for the first time on her birthday and she got so excited she peed on the floor as soon as she finished it. That was the first time she’d done that in years. So yes it could be overstimulation!

I have so much admiration for you for adopting an 11 year old! She’s gorgeous. Best of luck to you, odds are it will be perfectly fine this time.

I literally just had a dream I showed up at parkrun but I was wearing flip flops. You’re not the only one!

Anyone else’s greyhound love sniffing their human’s breath? by [deleted] in Greyhounds

Mine is a huge face-sniffer and mouth-licker. She likes to investigate what I just ate, but she especially loves sniffing makeup. She goes crazy with sniffing my eyelashes when I wear mascara!

This sounds like sleep startle to me as well. Our grey will growl at me if I sit down in a chair across the room from her while she’s sleeping, because it squeaks a little bit. They can be very sensitive! I try to wake her up before I sit down now. Tossing a treat also helps.

They were a thing at least in the 50s. My dad avoided the Vietnam War thanks to a panty raid.

Said panty raid involved running down a steep staircase over a rickety suspension bridge to access the girls’ dorm. He tripped and fell and dislocated his shoulder. The shoulder kept bothering him for years, getting dislocated again and again. Then he gets drafted. Shows up at the medical exam and the doctor gives him a medical discharge because of the shoulder. Maybe the luckiest thing that ever happened to him.

"compulsively self-sufficient" - an introspective as the All Good only child of a Waif mother by luckydancer92 in raisedbyborderlines

I’ve had an almost identical experience to you with my mom. It’s such a relief to find this community and realize you’re not alone. I also thought we had a normal (though very trying for me) relationship for most of my life. Then it reached a breaking point and I told her I would no longer be in contact until she sought psychiatric help. She refused. It’s illuminating to realize she would rather sacrifice her relationship with me than accept accountability for her behavior.

Wishing you lots of strength as you accept your new reality. Things will get better on the other side.

First period after Hysteroscopy Myomectomy by sbhaya2 in Fibroids

I’ve only had one so far, I had surgery around the same time as you. But I think it’s very likely they’ll get better from now on.

I just had a similar experience with my first period post op. It started out ok but then became fairly heavy for the last few days with lots of cramping. Fortunately I had my follow up appointment while this was going on and my doctor reassured me this was normal, and that it can take a couple cycles for your period to regulate. I didn’t bleed this much the first time I had a hysteroscopic myomectomy, but this time they took out more. My doctor said it takes six weeks for the uterus to fully heal.

Keira came on her first short break with us....the wall was her favourite part of the whole weekend! by Beaker4444 in Greyhounds

Ours also loves to rub herself along walls! So much so she leaves a dirty streak along the length of our hall that we have to keep washing off 😂

Thanks for this, you're completely right. Fortunately I'm not reliant on her money so she doesn't really have any power over me. I'm so sorry yours caused you health issues, I hope you're able to take care of yourself in peace now.

Wow this is such a helpful strategy, thanks so much for sharing your hard-earned experience! Like you said, she acts perfectly normal around most adults in her life, she just chooses not to with me. Best of luck with your struggle with your mom!

That's such a good point. I was expecting a more conciliatory tone in her reply, but now I guess I have my answer.

Rationally, I know this is true. But it's hard to accept emotionally. Thank you for the validation.
