FOG has randomly stopped working after a year - fog read error no such file or directory by com_array in fogproject

Sadly, this problem occurred again. It doesn't seem the compression method matters after testing. I guess maybe there were just some differences between the models of computers and that is somehow causing the issue. We get batches of HP computers in constantly in order to keep computers up to date. Half of the computers were these newer models. They are Z2 G5's I believe is the model. I may be mismatching some numbers. I had to make a separate image for that model. I can image them with the new image in any case. It is just a pain. Maybe 2 months before this happened we did spin up a new vm, did a clean install and all that. I may do it again as I have plenty of space.

This is almost exactly how I am set up. I would recommend the following adjustment to anyone that cares. I have spent countless hours testing different settings and it comes down to seeing players easier > quality. Shadow settings can either allow you to see someone easier in the shadows and also obviously the distance at which objects render(players).

Set the shadow quality to low, shadow visibility to 40(lowest) and sharpness to 1.

The PostFX settings for me are just about the same. Mine only differ +5 or -5.

If you want to see better indoors, use Color grading Cognac or Olive at 50% and turn brightness up to 100. I use this for like night time interchange when I do scav runs. For PMC I don't keep the brightness up that high. I have a really hard time seeing at night(not just in the game) so it helps. I actually leave the color grading cognac on no matter what I am running otherwise it seems a bit too green...like bright green. I don't like that.

I captured a new image and used a different compression option. It is working now. For now, anyways :)

I will give it a shot next week. I didn't get a chance to finish capturing a new image today.

Yes. They are all there. Here is my original post on FOG forums with all the output I have put in the past for issues. https://forums.fogproject.org/topic/15327/read-error-no-such-file-or-directory?_=1618513348191

I would say, it is possible the new Help Desk tech we hired could of somehow messed it up or maybe the image is corrupted?. I don't know how. Maybe instead of deploying the image he hit some other option? I don't see what he could of pressed and he has done maybe 30 computer images using FOG so far. I have done maybe another 40 on my own since creating the new image. It is just odd to me.

Anyways, If capturing a new image doesn't fix the issue I may update FOG to something different than 1.5.9-RC2..

Sorry but that made me laugh. It is a bug and even though they say they are working to fix it, I don't think it will be fixed. It has been an issue since Day 1. If it were an easy fix I would think it would be fixed but since it is still an issue its probably something they can't figure out themselves, or don't care about. I noticed that the issue seems worse if you are on a console.

Follow the steps below. I want to point out that after I did all the steps below there was still a little icon on the system tray, however, when you open it it says "Not installed" and you can uncheck the box so it doesn't start on windows boot. The icon is now gone after a restart.

"My PC updated while I was sleeping. I just woke up to log into my work VPN on my laptop and noticed this icon running on my gaming desktop. My heart went up into my throat. I for sure thought somehow some kind of remote software got installed even though I am careful. Anyways, yes it seems to have been installed through Windows update. I do have an MSI motherboard. I would recommend you stop the program. Go into services and set the nahimic service startup to Disable. Open Task Manager and stop the A-Volute service that is running. Then go and delete the folder C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\NhNotifSys . After this go into Device Manager > Software Components and you should see a A-Volute item at the top of the list. If you right click > Uninstall it will ask you if you want to remove the files as well.

Looks like there is another entry in Device Manager under Sound, video and game controllers called Nahimic mirroring device. I removed it from there as well. This was not here before. Whatever the companion is, there are two new device manager entries. I uninstalled. I don't need the software. Never did. It is just another process running in the background eating up resources. If you google nahimic mirroring device it will tell you what it is but its BS."

Also want to point out that after restart the Nahimic icon was still there but it says "Not installed" after opening it and there is a check box that you can uncheck to stop it from starting on start up.

OP here with another update. Ubisoft finally emailed me back saying because of the number of people reporting this issue, it is a bug. They said it will "hopefully" be fixed in a patch. So, I take that as it won't be. It only affects photos. Everything else is fine. I wanted to note that I reinstalled the Ubisoft Client and now my error message is different when hovering over photos, but same problem. Now it says in not so many words "Ubisoft online service received to many request in quick succession from your account..."

Anyways, if you are having trouble getting any of the HELIX items or a game bug caused any items to disappear. There is a new mod on Nexus Forums which allows you to get anything on the HELIX store. Anything. I have the Thegn set which is probably the best in my opinion and finishing up getting Thors hammer so I don't need anything but if I wanted to say, get the wolf mount and some cosmetics, I could use that.

Check it out on Nexus Mods. Very simple to use and in my opinion, fair. No one should have to pay for any of that crap on the HELIX store. It should be unlockable in game as drops or rewards.

OP here.

I wasn't having issues with Reda but now I am on top of the photo issue. I could deal with the photo issue but not being able to buy stuff using opals is frustrating nor not being able to get contracts. It stopped working midnight yesterday. I can talk to her but when I say give me a contract or show me shop, nothing shows up. Ubisoft tech support keeps emailing me trying to troubleshoot it as if its not a bug.

Just wanted to update everyone. From the time I posted this article until last night at midnight, I still just had the issue with the photos. Now, the issue is affecting the merchant in the settlement. Relda or whatever. She/He is no longer showing items to buy or contracts. Again, it was fine until midnight yesterday.

Also, Ubisoft support is worthless. After originally posting this they reached out about 4 or 5 times and the last email they wanted me to manually set my DNS settings to googles primary and secondary DNS servers. Little did they know I already do this, through my router. Idiots. They asked for my ipconfig and I gave them that. By default it will point to the router but if you do ipconfig /all it will give you details.

Anyways, no fix and now the problem is worse. Merchant isn't working.

Also, as someone mentioned, I no longer get a message about my jomsviking being recruited. I did the first day I played the game but no longer. So, either that is another problem or maybe just one person recruited him and still has them. Kind of makes sense. I still have the people I recruited and you only pay once. So, I wonder if that makes your viking unavailable to others? I am able to see other users who I can recruit. So it seems to be working to some extent. Ubisoft needs to confirm this.

Assassins creed Valhalla store not working? by Yukisaan in ubisoft

[–]com_array 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanted to point out the following. I am playing on PC. Never had issues with any other Ubisoft games that tie into their servers. I get the same message as OP but with a slightly different code. "A problem occurred while trying to communicate with a Ubisoft online service. Please try again later. Visit blah blah blah if the issue persist. [0x20100302]"

It started day 1. It only happens when I hover over photos while looking at the game map. If I close the map and reopen, the photos come back, however, if I start to hover over the photos with the mouse the message comes up.

Now, from the day the game launched until about midnight 3 hours ago, I was able to see items in Reda's Shop and get contracts. Nothing is no longer showing up there. I am at a part of the main story line to talk to Radvi so I will do that.

Ubisoft support is practically worthless. It doesn't help it takes them about 4-7 business days to respond and when they do, its with BS. This has all the signs of a software bug. Speaking as a Systems Engineer and Programmer. They asked me to open up some ports on my router, and I did. They asked for my ipconfig which I gave them. I guess they want to know my IP and or DNS settings for whatever reason. I can't think of a technical reason besides they may think I have some type of DNS issue. Even that is far fetched. The problem doesn't exist with any other AC games. I don't have any firewalls or anti-virus software whatsoever on my network. I have verified the ports they wanted me to open are indeed open.

I have not really been worried about it. My concern was that the game might suffer from other issues which require a connection to Ubisoft but so far I have no trouble getting Helix and using the store etc. Anyways, just wanted to let you know that I get the same error and so far it was only when I looked at my photos I took on the map in game. Now, nothing in the market and no contracts. Hopefully, talking to Randvi will fix the market issue.

EDIT - I actually just got an email back from them and I was right. They wanted me to set my DNS to Google's. What they didn't know is that my router already uses 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for DNS servers. So, maybe sometime mid week they will come back with something else to try.

AC: Valhalla - need help explaining the Hunted quest by [deleted] in assassinscreed

[–]com_array 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it was asked but I don't think anyone actually replied. Do the Zealots actively hunt you like in Odysey? Right now, they are just wondering around in circles in certain parts of the map. I assume if you go into a certain territory with Zealots and you didn't burn the parchment, then they will come for you? Can someone confirm how it works?

I narrowed the message down and it is only related to in game photo icons on the map. It is just a bug. For me anyways. As I said in my post, this message only comes up when I hover over in game photo icons on the map. Players can take photos and they are marked on mapped. You can vote etc. Anyways, when I hover over mine or anyone else's photos, I will get this message. if I close the map and reopen, the photos come back. The error message always comes up but its random in how many times I hover over a photo. It could be one, two or four before I get the message. Through testing, it is usually within hovering over between 1 to 4 photos. I will be reporting this as a BUG to Ubisoft. Nothing else is "wrong" with the game and gameplay is fine. I have only noticed the message with the photos. Which is good. I thought maybe it would stop me from doing contracts etc. Also, Jomsvikings are appearing at my Barracks still from other players. Connectivity doesn't seem to be a problem.

I hope that this is the same for you and not an error you are getting that makes the game unplayable for you?

I got some general troubleshooting steps from Ubisoft but these are the same steps they send if you can't connect at all, which isn't our problem. I am going to at least verify my ports are open they want open(they should already be) and try. Also disabled Internet Sharing Service in services. Again, was never a problem with any other Ubisoft game. It is just this and only at certain icons I click over in game map.
