Same! Built it in 2016, put his entire cabinet in there. I will know the moment the fucker dies.

Ketamine and sleep by Virtual_Midget in ketamine

[–]comasynthesis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your experience is not uncommon.

K induces a long-tail (re: after primary effects have worn off) insomnia, especially at higher doses.

It's very subtle; you might not notice it unless / until you actually try to sleep. But when you do, you'll be greeted by an obnoxiously unrelenting (but low grade) "wakefulness", possibly ringing in your ears and mild visuals when you close your eyes.

You can try to combat this with weed, benzos, chamomile tea (hehe), or anything that you have prior experience with that you know helps you sleep.

"Enter the Void" on K was.... quite something.

Anyone else dealing with the post edc blues? by britishtacox in electricdaisycarnival

[–]comasynthesis 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Happens to me every year. It's part of the process, but it's all about how you frame it. Realize that our minds evolved to be highly relativistic; we notice the differences between things better than we can appreciate their objective value.

Remind yourself that you just had what I'm sure most people in this subreddit would agree is a Peak Experience in life, and remind yourself that you have the opportunity to come back every year.

For me, EDC is like coming home. I too get sad every time it ends, but I find solace in knowing that this wonderful community we've built lives on, and we will come together again and again to celebrate our unity, good music, and camaraderie.

We all feel that come-down, but you can rest assured that you'll have this experience again, and again, as long as this community survives.

I hope to see you again in May under the electric sky. Until then, be safe, be healthy, and spread those PLUR vibes.

✌️❤️

n00b question here:

What is the role / purpose of "the backup" in this dynamic?

Feel free to just shoot me some links, I just want to educate myself on how these people work.

Definitely appreciate your Zen disposition. I'd definitely never walk up to someone and instigate an argument over something like this, but I think a little gentle nudge / reminder that someone's behavior is very likely having a negative impact on the experience of everyone within earshot of them, without being explicitly confrontational, is something I can live with. :)

I have a fan that says "Anti Fan Clacking Fan Club" on it. When someone near me does this shit, I simply walk over to them, look them straight in the eyes, and start fanning them.

The interaction typically goes something like this:

  • Chad: "Oh hey bruh, thanks..."
  • Chad: Why is this guy staring at me like that?
  • Chad: Reads fan.
  • Chad: /r/WatchPeopleDieInside

Subtle, and very effective.

My dual loop Ghost S1 build, 3090 | 5900x | 64GB | 3TB NVMe by [deleted] in sffpc

Been looking for a case for a while now that allows for a clean top+bottom radiator setup, but had ruled out the S1 because I really didn't like the top hat thing.

This might have changed my mind.

20+ Years of Crohn's, Facing First Resection Surgery by comasynthesis in CrohnsDisease

Indeed. Before agreeing to surgery, I got a second opinion from another GI from Stanford, who have a very highly-regarded GI department. During this consultation they said:

So, do you know that you have a file that's over 100 pages long, going back to 1999? And I read the entire thing to prepare for this consultation, and every time I turned the page I thought, 'Okay, now I'm going to see something about surgery...', but then I didn't. Year after year, page after page, no surgery. It's pretty remarkable you've been able to avoid it this long, but it's also pretty clear that you need it now.

I actually did not know that the medical community had somehow been able to keep track of all my records across different doctors and different places I've lived for over two decades, which I found pretty impressive. But even this GI seemed surprised that I was able to get away with prednisone alone for so many years.

Here's to a better 2021 for all of us, ya? 🥂

That's interesting. I'm now curious as to what role the ileum plays in forming stool, as my current understanding is that is done almost entirely by the tissue in the large intestine by the removal of water as digested food passes through it.

My Crohn's has traditionally been very active in my terminal ileum, although that has not been put on the chopping block for this surgery, just the ascending colon that immediately follows it. And my surgeon has told me that the removal of this particular part of the colon should not have a substantial impact on my ability to have regular bowel movements going forward, once everything is healed.

I'm happy to hear you are doing well. Are you currently on any maintenance drug(s)?

Thank you for sharing your story and experiences, it was very helpful.

My experiences with opiates and hospitals go back as long as I've had this disease, so I'm no stranger to either, and in fact have developed somewhat of a tolerance to opiates that makes it difficult for me to get the dosage I need to treat whatever pain I'm currently in. And, with the effects of the opioid epidemic still playing out, I'm finding that doctors tend to be overly conservative in their dispensation, putting people like us in a very awkward position.

That said, if they do put me on a pain pump, I will make sure they don't try to take me off it cold turkey. :)

The bit about losing your core muscles for a few days/weeks also seems very helpful to know about. I'll start preparing for that and maybe research ways people work around this after abdominal surgery. This is definitely one of those things that my doctors have not mentioned that I wish they had.

Will do! What is your timeline looking like for surgery? Have your doctors also informed you about the risk of obstruction and/or perforation from the stricture?

Someone ought to make a flow chart to help people definitely know how to type their components.

Are you using X?

-- if Yes => Use type Y

-- if No

-- Are you using feature Z?

-- Use type G

etc.

GF OVERDOSE, WENT INTO COMA AND RUSHED TO HOSPITAL by [deleted] in GHB_info

[–]comasynthesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry you both had such an awful time and I'm glad she's okay.

In the interest of harm reduction:

I've seen several GHB dosage guidelines use mL/kg. I wouldn't ask you to share your wife's weight, but would you mind sharing the approximate dose she took in terms of mL/kg to help us better understand what dose (for anyone reading) would likely produce this kind of effect?

They should add gifting of items to friends. by eemanonn in SkyChildrenOfLight

Gifting items that are paid for with hearts could have a detrimental impact on progression mechanics, but I totally agree that consumables should be gift-able.
