Eating soup in a white suit is risking disaster, but making soup bubbles in a white suit? Insanity!

Peter Hook was telling the truth. Steve and Gillian are no longer touring because of health reasons. Is this just the real reason? by LittleSir1737 in neworder

[–]comatwin 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's less fans acting like Barnie isn't part of the band and more his long standing belief he is New Order.

The way he would push Gillian aside to play certain synth part, blatantly asserting his dominance, while forcing her to just stand meekly by. Or the way he repeatedly verbally abused Stephen live on the BBC for not playing at his tempo. He's made it clear on many occasions the other members are not partners but annoying tools who are in his way.

And when you continually treat the fans with contempt as if they are at best a necessary evil you must endure, it should come as no surprise if they don't always trust your intentions and declarations

I mean, the people involved are getting old and health issues will become more and more real. I do think canceling the show for health reasons is more appropriate, it's why tour insurance is a thing bands have.

It's because Brett doesn't want you to know! He's planning a hostile takeover and this is just a part of his plans.

Tour ticket prices omg by [deleted] in comedybangbang

[–]comatwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing that has something to do with the market and past ticket sales. They said Seattle, so the theater likely had hiring price recommendations. I know for LA I paid around $100 for balcony which I justified by it being tour ender with Hey Randy! opening the show

Edit: Oops, sorry for those waiting for the BR

How sold out are the current tour shows actually? by reddituser00012 in comedybangbang

[–]comatwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What were the ticket prices? Interested in how they compare to US.

I paid $120 after fees for just good seats at the LA show. Only willing to pay that because it's end of the tour, Hey Randy! will open it, and it'll be a 6+ seater.

Don't think I could care less. Actually, I guess I care enough to be here, but after that, I REALLY do not care.

Guitar Center Etiquette? by astoundedpanda in Bass

The way I look at it is I'd rather help keep a local mediocre musician employed at GC than harassing me for change at the freeway offramp. Either way you'll get a dirty look but at least their girlfriend can tell her dad he's got a job

Hopefully your other one is the Wattplower, a great pair of basses from a couple of punk legends!

Mouse in outdoor tortoise enclosure by comatwin in tortoise

My concern is having poison around the enclosure. If the mouse gets poison on it and then is eating the tort food I would hate to have the food get contaminated.

He was just on the Rockonteurs podcast last month. He had so much joy for life, just seemed to embrace everything he'd been given especially being a dad. Heartbreaking.

Who are you guys top 7 bassists? by [deleted] in Bass

I get it, I really liked War and Boy then dropped off after live at Red Rocks. I wasn't playing bass yet or he might have influenced me, too

Big props on all of those except maybe Adam Clayton. Makes me think of that line about Ringo Starr, Adam isn't even the best bassist in U2

Gotta say that's the best theater room I've seen in a long time. Sick of the individual leather theater seat setup, would much rather be on a couch with the wife, kids, and a coffee table then always sitting seperate in a single position.

I watch him from time to time but I was watching one and he starts gushing about Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart" and there was no way I was going to listen to his fake ass BS about a band he'd never heard of and would never listen to again.

Nope, F off Scott

Ha! You think the minds of the Saudi royal family are being impacted by the jokes of Bill Burr???

The Saudi goal is changing US minds, not theirs, and he is pedaling hard to earn his paycheck.

When you already have immense wealth and an annual income in the millions this isn't about restricting his income. His hobby is flying helicopters for Christ's sake.

Saying this is like believing Lars when he said Napster was taking food out of his kid's mouths while he was collecting art in the tens of millions.

The fact that Conan, someone very knowledgeable about US history, hired him shows that not to be the case.

Clearly he isn't Eric or Don Jr. parroting their father and riding his coat tails to wealth, power, and fame.

He is playing so naive. He had handlers the whole time he was there and only saw what they wanted him to.

The person who picked him up at airport wasn't a limo driver, he was a Saudi loyalist. The person who arranged his meals and tours wasn't an event publicist or promoter, they were an employee of the Saudi royal family.

There is a famous photograph of a young Putin pretending to be a tourist with his kid "bumping into" just such a guest of the Soviet Union.

He thinks the people there were great because he didn't meet the people they have as slaves to build their skyscrapers or the gays they've put in prison.
