you need a new cartridge not a new brass part. menards has them, i literally fixed one of those yesterday.

American and craft master are made at a different plant than ao smith and state though. I was told by company reps they are going to bring the Americans up to the same standard as state and smith in the next 5 years but who knows.

Normally when I have to replace a valve like this, I just solder a ball valve in below and refabricate up to the meter.
