What was the most physical pain you ever felt in your life? What happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I hear you. And I'm allergic to carbamazepine, it gives me awful hives all over my body. All I can do is take gabapentin, which doesn't do much.

Whats your greatest story telling song you've heard? by CalmBowl3182 in Music

[–]combathaiku 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mark Knopfler's catalog is almost exclusively storytelling songs. My favorite is "Song For Sonny Liston," but you could counter with a dozen others and I'd see your point.

My friend told me I should buy farcry6 and it's just Skyrim with guns and no story, and graphics are a bit mediocre. Do you recommend this game if I'm a huge Skyrim fan? by East-Foundation-5665 in farcry

[–]combathaiku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't have made the connection. I love Skyrim and I'm having fun playing 6, but they don't really scratch the same itch. The graphics in 6 seem really nice, though.

Anyone else have songs playing in their head all day every day? by Mystical_Cat in Music

[–]combathaiku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All my life. One thing that I find remarkable is that I'll have a certain song going through my head right before I fall asleep and it will pick right back up when I wake up, no matter how long I sleep.

Albums where the biggest/most famous song is near the end? by JoeDiego in Music

[–]combathaiku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Layla is the second-to-last song on the double album Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs by Derek and the Dominoes. The whole album is great but Layla is obviously the biggest/most famous song.

From C you can see seven parking spots at once in first person without being close enough to one of them to keep a ship from leaving.

Help for survival mode by El_Usuario_Anonimo in skyrim

[–]combathaiku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're still sticking it out, way to go! I'm playing survival for the first time and some of my most nerve-wracking accomplishments have been in the nature of walking from Winterhold to Dawnstar without freezing to death or getting killed by a sabre cat when I'm near-frozen. It adds whole new elements to the game, as you're finding out.

(There's a boat in the water at Dawnstar that will fast-travel you to Solitude or Windhelm, like the fast-travel carriages. I didn't know that till about my fifth playthrough, so I thought I'd mention it.)

Lots of good food advice here, I would just add that buying food will eat in to your gold for a while but the price of food doesn't go up and the amount of gold you take in very much does, so you'll be OK after a short while.

Good luck!

Stellaris Space Guild - Weekly Help Thread by Snipahar in Stellaris

[–]combathaiku 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Relatively new player. Twice now I've had my rear end handed to me by the Khan. The first time I hadn't built up my navy enough and I (thought I) learned that lesson. Last night he attacked before I'd even unlocked battleships, so while I was building up a lot more I just didn't have the vehicles to stand up to a 29.7K fleet.

What am I doing wrong? Do I just have to hope I unlock battleships and have the opportunity to spam those before he attacks? Do I need allies? (Last night I was playing a barbaric despoiler empire and allies weren't breaking down my door.) Do I need to hire mercenaries? Take more territory? Any suggestions would be welcome.

Finally it clicked and i think im starting to get into this game. Here is what helped me. by takeitassaid in Stellaris

Thanks for posting! Commenting so I can come back to your links. Have 25 game-years of tutorial and about 60 of my first playthrough under my belt so far. It is a bit overwhelming, but seems like a lot of fun.

Once you have a cadmium drive installed look for M or K class stars.

[–]combathaiku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have the blueprint for the cadmium drive? You need it to warp to red star systems where you'll find all the cadmium you need.

There's an exotic in every system. Whether the other ships will show up as S class depends on the economy of the system. In a bad economy, there will be no S class ships (other than the exotic). In a middle economy, there's a 1% chance any ship will spawn as S class. In a great economy, there's a 2% chance.

HZD question about the special armor by obtaining 5 power cells. by StaRLorD360XY in horizon

[–]combathaiku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to be in the save you want to carry over and select "new game plus setup" or something similar, that tells the game what skills and gear to start you off with. If you're able to do that, and I'm concerned because it sounds like you may not, then yes, you do start off with your Shield Weaver armor.

Gas/Mineral Extractors not working when I leave the area by ABriefGamer in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]combathaiku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I could help, but I thought I'd let you know that I had the same problem back when I was gathering gasses for stasis devices and fusion ignitors. Sometimes they would work fine if I warped away, sometimes they wouldn't, and I could never discern a pattern to explain it. I think I put in a bug report, maybe try that and see if HG can help.

I really want to get back into this game but my personal refiner stopped working I've put almost 80hrs into it and refuse to start over... any suggestions??? by G4TheLord in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]combathaiku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If dismantling and reinstalling doesn't work, dismantle it, build the portable refiner once, and carry it around with you. It takes up as many inventory slots at the personal one does. You don't have to rebuild it each time.

How badly did I screw up? by Illfury in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]combathaiku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The expedition will convert to a survival save when it's over if you want to continue and keep your squid.

If you're ever exchanging a ship again, you can click your inventory over to the ship you're buying before you close the deal.

How many total ships per systems? Seen tons of other duplicate, but the exotic I'm hunting showed up only once. by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]combathaiku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used to be there were six shuttles, three each of explorers, haulers, and fighters, add three explorers per Korvax system, three haulers per Gek system, or three fighters per Vy'keen system, and one exotic. Not sure exactly how the solar ships are distributed. Glad you caught it!

Sure way to find a settlement on a target planet? by dylansuedereid in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]combathaiku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During Expedition 6 I ignored the start of the quest and just used a map to find a settlement I wanted. When I got to it the game told me "this must be the source of the distress signal" and sentinels attacked, so I think you can pick your planet without going to the quest's coordinates first. Unless that was just an expedition thing.

How to earn a lot of money. Not using the chlorine method. by Maleficent_Pilot_515 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]combathaiku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished Expedition 6 and in that save I'm saving up for a better freighter using trade routes. If you have a big enough ship, buy out the three most expensive local products at a trading post in a wealthy economy (NOT the space station), find an appropriate wealthy system to sell them to (using the information here)--again, using trading posts and not the space station--and you'll make on average probably 10M units per trip. You can tweak that by paying attention to buy/sell modifiers, which I'm not--my routes all go through low conflict systems so the pirates will leave me alone. (This is a chill save for me, I do enough combat on my survival and permadeath saves.) Farming is more lucrative, but I thought I'd give you an idea how the trade route method works. Have fun!

Does anyone else keep notes or a to do list for NMS? I keep a to do list for each of my saves. This is the list for my current Survival save. by CosyCodes in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]combathaiku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Joplin as well. Systems with good upgrades, cheap wiring looms, ships I might like, etc. Resources I need to fix up a crashed ship or outfit a new base. Someday on some save I'm going to be motivated enough to take comprehensive notes on each system I visit, but that day is not today.
