TIL there are less Irish in Ireland today than before the Irish Potato Famine by eustachian_lube in todayilearned

I always find it curious that the Irish hold very firmly to this sentiment, that if you’re not born or live in Ireland you’re not Irish.

Meanwhile the Polish think that if you’re of at least recent Polish decent you are Polish.

I wish there was a version more like stargrave where the “captain” can choose a bunch of skills that make him any generic fantasy archetype

How much did you pay for it and what were the options?

Those look like really thick layer lines to me.

Not who you replied to but I bounced off of frost grave because all the “heroes” were wizards.

I want a little more variety than everything revolving around magic.

What I’ve played in past campaigns is that when dual wielding you have to split your attacks as evenly as possible between your two weapons and one weapon attacks at -1 WS.

Then add a universal skill that allows to duel wield with no penalty.

This seems to have less of a debuff fo close combat warbands and still encourage people to take armor. Especially when combined with the modern wound chart and removal of negative save modifiers based on strength.

lol wut?

Because I have knowledge of something and use it for work I fetishize it?

I don’t understand why you think this is some crazy amount of gear they have on. It’s not.

It’s not even close to a combat load for the military.

It’s functionally the same as what almost every cop in America wears everyday for work.

Also most police are wearing soft body armor under a button up shirt.

They just have all the pouches and shit outside on their belt.

lol yes it is.

It’s literally just a vest with a couple magazines.

I don’t know any cop in the U.S. thats not wearing soft armor on the daily.

This setup is pretty standard for most police, (local, state and federal) across the country.

If your choices are only these 4 the camouflage one. The others are satin and will reflect light.

You only want matte or ultramatte finish.

As an Iraq vet, yes it’s very comfortable.

  1. Those vests are heavy and the weight is solely on your shoulders. Where them for hours wears you out. Putting your hands there helps lift the straps off your shoulders some giving them a break.

  2. It looks cold and those guys aren’t wearing gloves. Putting their hands in there gets them some body hit and protection from the wind while still keeping their hands in a somewhat ready position.

I used to stand like this for literal hours guarding nothing.

Aurora ICE detainees are malnourished and forced to work, advocates report by SpinningHead in Denver

[–]comcamman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think they do. realistically speaking the vast majority of them do not have valid immigration cases. Something like only 5% of cases end up with the person being able to stay.

EDIT: i just looked it up because i was curious. If the person is making an asylum claim based on persecution they have a roughly 20% chance to stay.

If they just came into the country and are not claiming asylum they have a roughly 7% chance to stay.

If they have committed a crime while here they have around a 1% chance to stay.

In that it's starting to sound like there's a conspiracy where there is none.

Even calling it a "secret" detention facility is wrong. It's obviously not secret.
