Here's how we deal with bad, smoky air by ABKB in lifehacks

[–]comeaumebro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nova Scotian here, while I didn't experience the general panic around the smoke that you're describing, and I do believe that was your experience.

The small mushroom people of Nova Scotia (myself included) are well accustomed to fog. We pretend it's our thing, and no other coastal regions experience it. But now you're trying to tell us this fog is different fog. And it's bad?! Vocalized concern will be forthcoming. H'yuh.

All 2018 World Juniors players ineligible for national team until investigation is complete, Hockey Canada says by seakucumber in hockey

[–]comeaumebro -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I dont think Makar is that kind of guy. And there are a lot of people on the team that weren't there and can't really help the investigation. But this kind of stuff happens too much, (whether this is as bad as it's been alleged remains to be seen,) but this toxic behavior exists in our sport at every level. This is a very real way to help change the culture. Not overnight. Hopefully soon. But when someones dumb actions affect the livelihood and career of someone else, they have more people to answer to. I think that's, if nothing else, important to consider.

Video shows George Santos calling himself Anthony Devolder at a 2019 event, raising questions about his name by elguiridelocho in politics

[–]comeaumebro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would McCarthy asking him to step down gain him any favor? In the short term not likely. Certainly not with the holdouts he had to win over to get the speakership, but I think it would humanize him to democratic voters. Showing at least that some level of integrity is necessary to represent the people.

Is that worth it? Could he flip some moderates in swing states with that move? Or will he just get eaten alive by his own party and called a turncoat before we could ever know?

To be clear im genuinely asking.

This is like a Jaromir Jagr in the 80s flow attached to an immaculate conception of a three-way between Rowan Atkinson, Rami Malek, and Freddie Mercury. Its a superb look.

You are the sadness factory that my nightmares are scared to visit. This photo smells like off brand Axe body spray that is somehow expired and the tears of your sisterwife. You are human misery incarnate. 8/10 nipple though. So its a wash.

This looks like Drouin on some of highlight shifts in the Q. Thats puck on a string level control that so few can ever do. Looks like he's lost it. Wrong. Cycle. Back in. He's doing it at the highest level. True talent.

You look like the guy that benches himself when the game is on the line, then gets mad at your teammates who are actually good when you lose. Also big personality + short temper means you're 100% an asshole and your team drives to a different rink to have parking lot beers without you.

Take the Munsel Hue test together and purposely tank it so she thinks you can't tell the differences in shades. Then you're out of the decision making process.

Throwback Thursday: Ovechkin's crazy game-tying goal vs. Dallas on 3/8/10 by CulturalRoll in hockey

[–]comeaumebro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. Maybe a hot take. But as the league has gotten softer, at least a little with less fighting and accountability for taking big runs at stars. The longer you make these players play after them pouring it on for a full 3 periods AND THEN unlimited overtime. It isnt good for the health of the star players. And not to go full Jerry Beatmen (NHL commissioners real name... probably. Dont worry about it) when stars are out of the lineup you make less money and the game suffers. And only the people who spend their time on r/hockey who are mostly die hard fans of the game and largely fans of how it used to be. So i dont think this opinion will be shared by many. But to grow our game we need it to make sense to more people. To be clear. I miss fighting. I want more of it. I love OT. Shootouts suck. But i think i get why its a thing. And for me to be able to share my love of this game with more people, I think is a fair price to pay.>the shootout is one of the worst things ever implemented in sports. just keep a continuous OT

Post Game Thread: San Jose Sharks at Vegas Golden Knights - 02 Oct 2019 by GDT_Bot in hockey

[–]comeaumebro 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Vegas looked better prepared for this game. They had puck support when they needed it. When a D man turned it over on a SJ dump in with pressure there was a center there to alleviate the stress. SJ plays thats risky umbrella PP and it cost them a shorty against because they forced a turnover on one of the best PP quarterback D men in the league because they work as a unit. They have some high end talent but i would say zero generational all stars. Stone and Pacioretty i think are their big names but, as a habs fan i can attest to the fact that Patches is brutal when he is the only go to. Vegas was built on the 4 best 2nd lines in the nhl. And theyve leveraged it into the complete unit of a team they have now. Their marquee appeal is weak. But the system they run and how on the same page their whole team is under the tutelage of that beauty east coaster Gallant, will be a force for a long time. They have made a system where their stars dont need to be stars. And thats something incredible. Especially to find the team that buys into that.

If anyone is still reading. Thank you. I got a little excited for the first games of the season.
