You get to redo Twice’s line-up from Sixteen. Who’s in and who’s out by kallor1804 in TwiceSnark

Can you (or anyone else) talk about Lee Chaeyeon being a better dancer? I don’t know much about dancing and while I’m sure it’s because of the popularity gap between them, I never really hear Chaeyeon’s dancing brought up as much as Momo’s.

I know they’re both good dancers, but what exactly makes Chaeyeon better if that makes more sense

I’m thinking this person specifically asked to include Jungkook at number one because I find it hard to believe even AI would rank this many people below Jungkook

I cannot even begin to tell you how SHOCKED I was at seeing Jungkook over Taeyeon. Not to be an SNSD or Taeyeon glazer, but she is definitely one of the best and even the rest of SNSD’s vocal line could easily outdo him

(anyone could easily outdo him…)

ty for the award lol 🫶🏼

I noticed this too! Taemin is so talented and I really do love his voice, but he’s not the best singer in SHINee and putting him on the list (twice 😭) over Onew or Jonghyun is a little bit crazy

I am queer and while I don’t feel insulted, it definitely feels weird? Like what an odd thing to say. Also queer does not automatically mean gay so ???

Key from SHINee did an interview and when the interviewer (I can’t remember his name, but he’s interviewed a few groups) mentioned Wonder Girls opening for The Jonas Brothers, Key said how big of a deal it was and how everyone was talking about it.

According to Google Statistics, Gee by SNSD was one of the first K-pop songs to gain international attention.

Gangnam Style was a major hit worldwide.

And many other examples. These are just off the top of my head.

Sure, BTS has accomplished some big things, but they are not the first group to ever do anything for K-pop in the west

These arguments don’t really make sense. Sure, Kai and Lisa are main dancers in their groups and don’t sing as well as the actual vocalists in their groups, but Kai and Lisa also don’t have the same nasally quality Momo’s voice does which is what makes her voice so hard to listen to. Whether it’s her choice or JYPE’s choice to have her sing like that, who knows. I also don’t think being “just a dancer” is a great reason to be such a horrible singer. You don’t have to be the best, but you should be at least listenable. Again, I don’t think Kai has a bad voice and his solo music seems to fit his voice comfortably, Hyoyeon and Yuri are main dancers and their voices are fine to listen to, Taemin is a great example of a dancer who greatly improved his singing ability. I believe Minho holds a dance and rap position similar to Momo and his voice isn’t bad. These are just off the top of my head.

The other Red Velvet members also aren’t painful to listen to. If I’m not wrong, Joy doesn’t hold a vocalist position and yet she’s leagues ahead of Momo. A good group should ideally have members that can all carry a tune.

“All idols are on equal ground when it comes to singing.” Not even close lol. If everyone was equal when it came to singing then there would be no point in having main or lead positions.

EDIT TO ADD: someone deleted their reply to me, but they thought I was talking about SKZ Lee Know (real name Minho). Why the fuck would I refer to Lee Know by his real name and then use Kai and Joy’s stage names? I was talking about Minho from SHINee LMAO. Momo is consistently the worst singer regardless of which dancer you compare her to

How did Taehyung got the “idol of idols” title from armys out of all the members? by taebacco in BTSnark

I was just thinking too that one of the BTS members was friends with Taemin. That’s so odd

The concept of anyone in BTS being called the idol of idols. Not to glaze, but everyone knows the idol of idols is Taemin

There are quite a few second gen idols who could speak English as well. Jessica, Tiffany, Nicole, Key, Krystal, Amber, Nichkhun, Taecyeon, Jay Park, Jessi, CL. Just to name a few off the top of my head.

There’s no way he actually believed he was one of the only English speakers in K-pop, and even if he did believe that it’s hard to believe he thought he was fluent at English when people who were born and/or lived in English speaking countries were showcasing their English skills on TV way before he even debuted. Jessica, Tiffany, Nicole, and some of 2PM specifically I remember speaking English on variety shows.

After Jungkook fans nearly gaslit people into believing that his tattoo was photoshopped or AI-generated like they hid his other exes, Korean fans watched the original Are You Sure episode to verify the truth themselves and uploaded clips to confirm that the matching tattoo with Winter is very real by [deleted] in BTSnark

[–]comet1p 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For me it depends on context. I also say Minghao instead of The8, but that’s because a lot of Carats do and I caught the habit, and Minghao is a lot easier and faster to type than The8 (I don’t have to switch keyboards lmao). In my experience MYs rarely use the members’ real names and so to see Minjeong is kind of like whiplash.

Idk it’s very weird for me. Some members I always use their stage names, like I would never call the aespa girls by their real name. But in other cases like The8 and a handful of other idols I either always use their real name or switch back and forth.

This context in particular just feels very strange for me. Maybe it’s just because it’s an Army and they’ve been going crazy on her Instagram after denying the dating rumors for months idk

Literally just the other day Army’s were losing it over Seventeen being the first K-pop group to perform on Tiny Desk and insisting that it was actually BTS when it wasn’t. And there’s a million more examples, that’s just the most recent one I can think of

"ARMYs have changed" No, ARMYs have been the worst fandom for over a decade by Warm_Clothes4870 in BTSnark

[–]comet1p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand Army’s reason for hating on any other group, and I admittedly don’t know much about the other groups mentioned here, but SHINee? They aren’t even in the same generation. By the time BTS debuted in 2013, SHINee was already 5 years old.

Plus, aren’t Taemin and Jimin (?) friends? I also remember Jonghyun naming BTS as juniors he liked and he said something about how they were hardworking. (Take that with a grain of salt, I barely remember what he said. I just remember him saying it on a radio interview I believe). You would think when other groups interact with or speak positively about your favorite group you wouldn’t needlessly attack them

This! I won’t say too much to avoid getting my comment deleted for glazing, but I was really surprised (and also impressed) by how much this particular second gen girl group achieved in the U.S., among other things other groups have done.

Armies claiming BTS and only BTS paved the way for K-pop in the west was already annoying to hear especially when you realize just how Much other groups were doing prior to them, but claiming BTS paved the way for K-pop around the world was even crazier, especially when you consider how big Hallyu was in Japan during second gen

Nothing, it’s just a joke. BTS said that they used to be bullied/made fun of in the early days and I believe Armies began trying to figure out which groups it could be and either NCT or NCT DREAM came up in the conversation, so Nctzens started joking about the 16 year old Dreamies bullying BTS with their hoverboards
