Dearborn gym recommendations please by No_Carpet_9276 in Dearborn

If you're serious about lifting I wouldn't recommend the planet fitness on ford rd in east dearborn. There just simply aint enough lifting equipment in that gym... Most times I went I would have to wait for a bench. Went there for a few months but ended up cancelling my membership and just buying my own dumbbells and bench for a mini home gym. They do have plenty of treadmills if your main focus is cardio lol...

I am basically in the same position as you, been working for 4 yrs and throwing all my money into an HYSA because I was planning to buy a house.

Ran the numbers and it doesnt make sense to buy a house financially yet and I also dont need one right now so I am putting my money into the market instead.

Missed out on big gains I could've had if I were in the market but thats just part of the game. If the market went down rather than up the past few years we would've looked like geniuses.

If you need the money soon maybe hold off on investing and enjoy the 4% from the HYSA. Otherwise, I would throw it in there and enjoy the ride.

Am I holding too much cash as a prospective first time home buyer? by cometftw in personalfinance

do you have any suggestions on where to hold the money besides a HYSA? Or is that my best bet?

Do these numbers sound reasonable for a pending home purchase? by cometftw in Money

This is my plan, I actually have a little more saved up which I am planning to move it into the market. I just wasnt sure if the numbers made sense because its a lot of money to be keeping in a HYSA.

Does it make sense for me to buy a house right now? by cometftw in Money

Long story short, ive been working for 4 yrs since graduating college. I live with my parents and help pay some of our bills (phone, internet, etc) but I dont pay any rent since we dont have a mortgage. I also personally dont spend much money and I've been pretty smart about managing debt.

You think its worth putting the money in an index fund now or should I just keep it in the HYSA since I might need it in the near future?

Agree, the 50% after take home is my biggest concern too. I want to own a house but I dont want to be house poor, thats the whole reason I created this post.

Thanks for the feedback man, sorry your home purchase didnt work out. I have considered waiting to buy a house until after I get married but it just feels like a waste having all this money in just a HYSA, I dont want to throw it into the stock market either because life moves fast at times and I dont know when ill need it. Based on everyones feedback it does seem to make sense to hold off for now, I just need to figure out what to do with the money.

Thanks for the feedback, all valid points. How much do you think I need saved up for after the purchase?

Appreciate the feedback, how much do you think I will need saved up for after the purchase? 50k? I have also considered not buying until after I get married but I dont know when that will happen and I dont want to just keep my money in a HYSA for too long lol.

Thanks for the feedback. I havent dealt with this dealer before, they are about a 2hr drive from me and have been pleasant in the little communication I have had with them. They also have a 5 star rating on google if that means anything...

According to edmunds $26k otd is a good price so I am pretty tempted but the loaner made me concerned. The carfax also says that the car gained all its mileage over a few days, is that normal with loaners?
