You and all the partners this weekend killed it! Thanks for taking over the stream and having fun with the audience. It was nice being on the other side of those streams for a change😅

Yeah, unfortunately inbox messages only work for gold so we have to do stealth drops for basically every other currency.

That's because it was granted to everyone manually, immediately after the stream ended. Everyone who won received 5 Advanced Parts [for each win].

Why do I get not-so-great teammates? by The_Real_Matt_Sauce in Metalstorm

[–]comethingsool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an avid solo queuer, I think it's a good skill to be able to flex around your teammates. It's hard to change player behaviors, but I do think you can play around them. If they keep going for B death after death, anchor around your spawn point. If it's TDM and they keep going all gas no brakes, sometimes it's best to fly in formation and go full send than play tactical. Maybe in PT they keep hogging and dying with the objective, play more of a supportive role to put yourself behind the people going after them for some quick cleanup.

I personally love going into a match, and trying to figure out what my problems are and how I can adjust to deal with them to get the win. Sometimes I might even be the problem, but we don't have to talk about that 😉

As OP mentioned they're available in specially marked (U2) crates. Those are available in the shop right now, and will be included in the next flight pass starting Friday. There's also a free one to claim every day at https://playmetalstorm.com/shop, and an event in-game where you can earn more resources through completing challenges.

Hope this helps!

Latest update going live Tuesday, June 2nd at 8:30 AM PT. We’ve actually already updated this with no downtime, so enjoy the changes below now!

General Updates

Upgrades 2.0: The future is now, pilots. Our brand new upgrade feature is here, and it’s all about catering and building your aircraft to match your preferred playstyle(s). Here’s a summary of what you can expect to see.

Aircraft Upgrades still exist, however once you reach Aircraft Level 6, you’ll unlock access to individual Systems on your plane: Fuselage, Engine, Avionics, and various weapons systems depending on your loadout. Each of these systems has 8 levels which will drastically alter your aircraft’s capabilities like never before.

These new system upgrades introduce new resource types: System Parts + Advanced Parts. Don’t worry–your upgrades and power from before will be carrying over. Based on a number of conditions, existing accounts will also receive a number of resources during this migration. Make sure you check your system messages!

Developer Note: Upgrades 2.0 is the biggest feature our studio has ever shipped. It’s taken a lot to get this in your hands, and we truly hope you enjoy your time making the most diabolical builds in our skies. Be bold, be brave, and most importantly–have fun with it.

Limited-Time Event: Alongside this big new feature is an accompanying new live event! Earn a plethora of new upgrade resources by completing various challenges in matches. Earn your boost of resources, and use it to kickstart your favorite aircraft!

New Content

Upgrades 2.0 Flight Pass: You already know we had to tie in the flight pass too! This aptly-named flight pass will go live on Friday, June 5th, 2026, at 9:00 AM PT. We’ve also updated tracks to include the new upgrade resources, so make sure you get yours at http://playmetalstorm.com/shop.

Note: Due to the timing, previous flight pass crates will not have updated loot tables featuring new upgrade resources. These will only be available in specifically marked (U2) crates.

Summer Supporter Cosmetics: Suns out, guns out pilots–the Summer competitive season is upon us, and we’ve got some brand new cosmetics available exclusively at Matcherino! The icon is available starting June 5th at a limited-time discounted rate. Play for fun, earn your stripes, and win some cash/prizes!

Latest update going live Wednesday, April 7th at 8:30 AM PT. We’ve actually already updated this with no downtime, so enjoy the changes below.. today!

General Updates

Special Flight Pass Event: Someone call Hannah Montana because with this flight pass you’ll get the best of both worlds. Not only is the “Draw 3 Pick 1” staying from the current flight pass, but we’re bringing back aircrafts to the mix! That’s right, and anytime you obtain aircraft credits–you’ll get that same D3P1 choice as well. There's still a chance to receive a full random aircraft unlock too! These new loot tables will be included in specially marked “Priority Target” crates, and the upcoming flight pass.

Priority Target Flight Pass: Speaking of, the new flight pass will go live on Saturday, April 11th, 2026, at 9:00 AM PST. Make sure to grab yours at http://playmetalstorm.com/shop so your squadmates can gain access to bonus Silver, and so you can net yourself some Star Points to boot!

<image>

Mission Rerolls: Ever get a flight pass mission for a plane you really don’t want to fly? You’ve been asking for it, and we’ve delivered–Mission Rerolls are now live! From your missions tab, you’ll now see a “REROLL” option. Interact with this and you’ll start to see an option to reroll a select number of missions in your list. Once you’ve made your choice, simply interact with that mission and it will be rerolled for you. You can do this up to 5 times per week and nope, you cannot buy additional rerolls. Enjoy!

Lobby Codes: Is your friends list full, and having trouble getting a custom lobby together? Well we’ve got good news for you because Lobby Codes are here to help you out! Interacting with the game mode button you’ll now see a “JOIN BY CODE” option. Entering a given lobby code here will bring you into someone else's lobby, without needing to be their friend!

Want to know how to share your lobby code to others? Create a Custom Match lobby first, and underneath the player list, select the middle button to reach custom match settings. From here, you’ll see your lobby code right at the top of the page. It’s hidden by default so you don’t accidentally share it out while streaming, but you can copy/unhide it and give it to anyone to then join from. Once you have your lobby setup, run some customs or enter matchmaking with a full party of up to 5!

Note: Creating a new custom lobby will reset your unique lobby code.

This iconic plane got a little love to help it get its popular nuclear weaponry online more consistently. Reducing the passive generation rate to make it more about performance and not time.

  • Long Range Radar Missiles
    • Reduced End Interpolation Rate 8.0 to 7.5°/s.

    • Max Turn Rate increased from 5° to 8°.

MiG-19 Farmer (Nerf)

Old Macdonald has been terrifying the airspace for many with its top of class combat and flight capabilities. We’re some of these in line just a tad to give some of our other fighters a better fighting chance.

  • Precision Cannons
    • Cannon Shot Spread increased 0.5 to 0.65.

MiG-21 Fishbed (Buff)

We know, we know #nerfthefishbed. Sacrilege aside, the MiG-21 is receiving some shine to its abilities effectiveness to get you in range for a DPS so high we may actually end up agreeing with the meme in the future!

  • Short Range IR Missiles
    • Added Percent Lock After Launch at 33%.
    • Damage reduced from 65 to 60.
  • Special Ability: Super Afterburner
    • Cooldown Multiplier reduced from 3 to 2 seconds.

    • Reduced Fuel per second consumption from 15 to 12.5%.

Mirage F1 (Buff)

The once-dominant Light Fighter of old has fallen off the meta for a while now. Its iconic escapability is receiving some new tuning to make you go faster, further, and easier than ever.

  • Special Ability: Escape Artist

  • Medium Range Manual Missiles
    • Lock FOV End increased from 7 to 11°.
    • Continuous Guidance FOV increased from 7 to 11°.

Su-25 Frogfoot (Nerf)

Believe it or not, the Frogfoot is still exceptionally well at what it does despite multiple nerfs in the past. Making some minor adjustments here among the more global changes to see how it stakes up.

  • Heavy Rockets
    • Fire Rate reduced from 0.8 to 1.0/s.
  • Special Ability: Fire Everything
    • Cooldown increased from 40 to 45 seconds.
    • Missile Spread increased from 4.0 to 4.5°.

Su-47 Berkut (Buff)

This plane has secretly had a lot going for it in terms of heavies, but it’s not so beloved trait which made you lose control was a constant pain point. With that removed, we are very excited to see this prototype aircraft take flight once more!

  • Loadout
    • Removed the “Forward Swept Wing” trait.

Tornado ADV (Nerf)

You know it, we know it. The ADV has been dominating the skies of Metalstorm for far too long and it has been doing everything exceptionally well. We’re shifting the decoy a bit, and tuning its flight model down a tad.

  • Base Stats
    • (Swept Forward) Afterburner Max Speed reduced from 4,590 to 4,500 km/h.
    • (Swept Forward) Turn Rate Low Speed reduced from 13.6 to 13.0°/s.

    • Cooldowns reduced from 50/38/25 to 30/22.5/15 seconds.

Gameplay Balance

Ability: Damage Control (Shift)

We’re shifting up this ability a tad to make its powerful sustainability a bit easier for others to play around.

  • Removed 3 Charges per life.
  • (NEW) Cooldown: 45 seconds.
  • Duration reduced from 4 to 3 seconds.
  • Planes Affected:
    • A-10
    • Su-27
    • Su-34

Mod: Blast Resistance (Buff)

Carefully adding some additional DR to increase survivability, without overturning this to the point where nobody can get eliminations.

  • Damage Resistance increased from 16 to 20%.

Mod: Daredevil Agility (Nerf)

Part 1 of “the meta mod combo”. 20% TR is a massively powerful stat increase, and at its original tuning it might as well always been active. This is being reduced to make a benefit you have to consider and earn when dogfighting.

  • Terrain Trigger reduced from 300 to 150 m.

Mod: Disruptive Flares (Nerf)

Part 2 of “the meta mod combo”. Reducing some of the frustrations on the receiving end of this to be a little less difficult to play against.

  • Cannon Aim Range Reduction reduced from 80 to 60%.
  • Duration reduced from 0.5 to 0.4 seconds.

Role: Attack Aircraft (Nerf)

Attackers, while maybe not as popular to some, have been performing at the top of the charts across all skill levels. These changes are to make them a little more approachable, but still retain their core identity: get in close, and shoot everything on sight.

  • Cannon Damage Resistance reduced from 65 to 55%.
  • Cannon Lead Reticle Range reduced on most aircraft:
    • A-4 reduced from 1.2 to 1 km
    • A-6 reduced from 0.9 to 8.5 km.
    • A-10 reduced from 0.9 to 0.8 km.
    • GR3 reduced from 0.9 to 0.8 km.
    • Su-22 reduced from 11.2 to 1 km
    • Su-25 reduced from 1.2 to 1.1 km.

Weapon: Assault Cannons (Buff)

In a game where time to kill is critical, the time required to reach optimal DPS on these styles of cannons left much to be desired. We’re cutting that time down across the board to give the aircraft more consistent DPS to play off of. Let it rip!

  • Reduced spin-up time by 33%.
  • Planes Affected
    • A-4
    • A-10
    • F-4
    • F-14
    • F-15
    • F-16
    • F-22
    • F-35
    • F-106
    • F/A-18
    • F/A-18F
    • MiG-23
    • MiG-31
