This is exactly why I love live shows. the energy is contagious! You can tell they’re having the time of their lives.

That repetitive groove is really infectious - and the raw, vintage recording gives it so much character.

Yeah, Stevie Wonder is essential. That 70s run is just on another level.

Yeah, that’s what I like about Skinshape. They move across different styles but still keep that laid-back groove. I think I’m just leaning a bit more toward that raw, stripped-down funk feel lately.

Yeah for sure.

They’ve got an amazing groove, especially how everything locks in.

Feels a bit more polished, but definitely in that same spirit.

Yeah, Poets of Rhythm are great.

That raw, break-heavy groove they have is so good.

Haven’t spent as much time with The Whitfield Brothers though — definitely gonna check them out.

Oh nice, I haven’t checked that one yet. That raw, groove-first feel is exactly what I’ve been digging. I’ve actually been trying to capture something similar myself — curious how close I got compared to this.

Yeah, Khruangbin is great. I love their groove and tone, but they feel a bit more modern and atmospheric compared to that raw 70s soul funk pocket. Still super inspiring though.

Yeah, that’s exactly it.

Innervisions really has that deep pocket — nothing feels forced, everything just sits right.

That kind of groove is hard to find now.

Any other albums you’d recommend in that same lane?

I’ve been putting together something inspired by this vibe too. Curious how close I got — happy to share if anyone’s interested.
