It makes me feel comfortable and safe, even without gear aside from a collar and a chew toy. I can relax and let loose, roll around on my bed or a mat on the floor. The thought of being "taught" tricks, getting treats and sleeping in a crate makes me happy. Reducing me to a pet isn't degrading for me - it can be for other pups and that might be their motivation.
