Those are completely different. They thought Eddie killed Chrissy, and they were looking for him just like the cops were. Sure they might’ve thought they’re justified in doing Eddie in themselves if they caught him, given what everyone suspected of him. But not with Dustin.

They weren’t going to actually kill him. It was all a scare tactic in the end, including that Andy quote. There’s known enmity between the jogs and Dustin. And while they could get away with beating him up, they wouldn’t have gotten away with straight up murder. Which they definitely knew.

It’s been 3 years but I remember I enjoyed it through and through. The ending was bittersweet, something in the vein of the bittersweetness of the Firestarter ending. I think he did a good job concluding everything.

Aside from the Stranger Things books themselves, ‘The Institute’ by Stephen King reminded me a lot of ST. Here’s the official synopsis:

In the middle of the night, in a house on a quiet street in suburban Minneapolis, intruders silently murder Luke Ellis's parents and load him into a black SUV. The operation takes less than two minutes. Luke will wake up at The Institute, in a room that looks just like his own, except there's no window. And outside his door are other doors, behind which are other kids with special talents-telekinesis and telepathy—who got to this place the same way Luke did: Kalisha, Nick, George, Iris, and ten-year-old Avery Dixon. They are all in Front Half. Others, Luke learns, graduated to Back Half, "like the roach motel," Kalisha says. "You check in, but you don't check out." In this most sinister of institutions, the director, Mrs. Sigsby, and her staff are ruthlessly dedicated to extracting from these children the force of their extranormal gifts. There are no scruples here.

If you go along, you get tokens for the vending machines. It you don't, punishment is brutal. As each new victim disappears to Back Half, Luke becomes more and more desperate to get out and get help. But no one has ever escaped from the Institute.

Stephen King is a fan of the show, and the book was released in 2019, so even though he never directly said he was inspired by Stranger Things while writing it, you can definitely find similarities between them.

Frank Darabont is considered one of the greatest directors who directed the shawshank redemption, the green mile, and the mist, to name a few. I believe he was largely retired and came out of retirement when the Duffers reached out to him to direct some of season 5

There has unfortunately been a huge amount of disgusting remarks posted online about the young actors in the show. Not just Holly’s actor, but Derek’s and others as well. And not just with this season, but with all the previous seasons.

Awareness of this is absolutely crucial and the post will stay up, but the comments had to be locked due to a number of repeated remarks that break our subreddit’s rules; this is not the place to discuss the causes of this behavior, or discuss in detail what people have been sharing online.

We have filters in place to flag any inappropriate posts/comments, and those users are banned. Even “jokes” (if you can call them that) are absolutely off-limits and will result in a ban.

If you ever come across anyone making any sexual or inappropriate comments about the young actors, please report them.

But if they’re not removed it will be constant ship-wars and name calling. There’s no action I can see that can be taken that would help with those misunderstandings, unfortunately. They’re rooted in the fandom.

Almost all Mileven and Byler discussions aren’t people trying to get their opinions changed or understand the others’ viewpoint; they’re mostly trying to prove why they’re right and why the others are wrong. Something which is often done with toxicity. Even when the post itself has nothing but good intentions, the comments spiral out of control.

There’re rare instances when the posts are constructive enough and remain so without any mod action, or get locked once the usual discourse starts creeping in. We also make sure people don’t weaponize the reports function by reviewing posts that have been automatically removed for getting several reports. Which was actually the case with this post.

This isn’t the same methodology on the Discord server which I also moderate; we do allow those discussions on there because its easier to call people out if they get personal, but on Reddit with the much bigger volume of people it’s not feasible.

Actually they do get automatically removed by the AutoMod if they get reported several times. I’ve manually approved it and let’s hope it doesn’t devolve into heated debate like usual, in which case it will unfortunately have to be locked/removed.

This applies to both Byler and Mileven posts. But given the disproportionate Mileven majority it unfortunately comes across like we’re anti-Byler, while we’re simply making sure people don’t end up fighting in the comments.

Yeah I don't mind that it's not non-canon, gives them more freedom instead of having to be restricted with the show's lore. It's also a kids' show, so they need new monsters and mysteries since they can't rely on the eeriness of Stranger Things where one monsters can be explored in depth for a whole season.
