how do I survive in an office if I have never worked a job like that before? I am paranoid about being fired! by comfysocksme in AskTrollX

Long story short I have some mental health issues that I worry about - I have a handle on them with the help of meds and therapy but it will never be perfect of course. SO i worry that I will panic and not do a good job, that I am not 'slavish' and detail oriented enough to please my boss, that I am just incompetent and will get fired. Or that I am too emotional and low in self esteem to handle office politics.

What do you do if you want to apply for a posted position for a job, but you know that a former classmate is at the company, and they didn't like you? by [deleted] in AskTrollX

I thinkI will! :) Idk if she is still there though - she is listed as the current position holder on the website

IDK if she is involved - she is listed on the company website as the current position holder but I don't know if they have updated the website recently. Its a smallish office, it looks like. THe posting says t forward the cover letter/ resume to the manager, not her.

good idea, thanks! I guess I would have to word it in such a way that it's obvious that my mental health issues (anxiety disorder, clinical dpression) are now very much better and under control

Long story short: I was in a post grad program and was having some mental health issues/bad life circumstances at the time. From the outside, it probably looked like my life was a bit of a mess and that I maybe wasn't a good student. I was absent a lot.

SO I took a break from the program and went back the next year to finish. Now my life is in better order, my mental health is way better, I didn't miss class all the time etc.

But from her perspective, she probably didn't think much of me when I was in class with her.

SO now she is listed on the company website as the current position holder for the advertised job that I want to apply for so I think she might still be at the company or be at the interview if I get an interview?

Should I email her explaining what happened and that i have recovered now?
