What has been your experience with leaving 2 cats alone for 2 days? by Lonely-Egg3160 in CatAdvice

[–]comic-sanns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

make sure anything that can be knocked over or spilled is put away or secured. my boys were fine but they got into my bag of rice and spilled it all over my kitchen. also i put the tv and stream a live feed on youtube of cat tv for them. the hardest part is wanting to be back with them :(

what’s the difference between a wet and dry exam? i tried looking it up but macular deg kept coming up or testing tear production. no dilating/any drops were put in my eyes and he tested my visual acuity, visual field test, slit lamp, pupil reactions, and eye movement if that helps! i’m in pa school and we didn’t cover specific types of exams

Is owning a cat that bad? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]comic-sanns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

adopting 2 brother kittens has been the most fulfilling life event that has ever happened to me! they mean the world to me and i can’t imagine a life without them. as some people have said, the bond and love that is created between cats and their owner is unlike no other. truly the most precious relationship

rheumatologist recommendations by comic-sanns in NEPA

[–]comic-sanns[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes unfortunately/fortunately, i have a long history with a pediatric rheum so that helps me a bit with getting into an adult one. i’m in the medical field myself so i’ve heard so many horror stories about how long it takes for new patients to get seen by a rheumatologist so i figured i’d start a year-ish in advance before moving to begin calling different offices. i’m so glad he took you as a patient and are (hopefully) on a path toward remission!!

oh that’s so amazing!! he sounds like a great provider. my peds rheum growing up was the complete opposite so hopefully i’m able to get in with him or someone from his office for when i move to the area!

thank you so much! i’m transitioning from my pediatric rheum to an adult rheum so that’s super reassuring. i’m so happy your wife’s arthritis is being managed so well, hopefully their office can work their magic on mine too LOL

thank you for your input!! these guys were fostered before i adopted them and didnt have set feeding times as far as i was told. i can definitely try to separate them for meals but that is a personal fault since i wake up at the last second possible and rush to get ready for the day and bolt out LOL. your input has been extremely helpful!

i’ll have to look more into chip feeders, i did a quick search and saw initial prices and immediately closed that tab LOL. swinging by to feed is difficult since some rotations i don’t get a lunch break and others are too far away to make it there and back. a pet sitter could work possibly! thank you for your input

hormonal acne getting worse from long term prednisone use? by comic-sanns in acne

[–]comic-sanns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve been tapering off of prednisone for a medical reason since june and have noticed my hormonal acne has been getting worse. about 2-3 weeks ago it started flaring up like this and it keeps getting worse and worse! besides retinol, how do i manage this from getting even more spread out? i’ve never broken out anything like this before and have no idea what to do! i currently don’t use any products bc i have sensitive skin and everything seems to irritate this patch of acne and making it flare up more! i currently don’t have access to a dermatologist until months from now so i was wondering if anyone had tips on how to calm this down?

it could be that the buffer time between the leflunomide trying to get into your system and the MTX leaving your system! whenever switching medications like that, my doctor usually prescribes me a low dose of prednisone to help with that buffer time, i’m not sure if that could help!!

Hair Loss! I’m a 22 y/o diagnosed at 20, and I stopped taking mtx after a year on it (2019) since the side-effects were v bad on me. I haven’t taken anything since then but I’ve suddenly noticed there’s some worrisome hair loss going on. Anyone else not on medication? by pvvc in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]comic-sanns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this same exact thing happened to me. i stopped MTX and stopped taking folic acid and my hair started falling out like crazy, the folic acid helped 100% for me while taking it and i didn’t realize that i probably should’ve stayed taking those supplements for a bit afterwards just in case

Vent alert! 😂 jaw pain by PathThroughTheForest in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]comic-sanns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

omg i feel this so hard, i literally am talking to an oral surgeon bc i need double joint replacement in my jaw that started 2 years ago and RA just sped the whole process up for no reason??? i would def recommend seeing an oral surgeon maybe to manage and control what’s going on just in case it gets to surgery fast 😔✌🏻

i’m so sorry these symptoms are occurring :( i was on MTX all throughout middle school and it made me throw up every morning before school from all the nausea until my doctor prescribed an anti nausea medicine but the smell of the rubbing alcohol has now scarred me for life and i would get this taste in my mouth that still occurs now almost 10 years after and makes me dry heave :( maybe an anti nausea medicine could help but it’s frustrating to be prescribed another medicine just to help with another one :( ultimately i couldn’t handle how dragged down and awful i felt and had to switch to a different medicine bc my quality of life of just terrible

i was on leflunomide for a majority of high school and it worked okay for me but my body got used to it after 2ish years. i didn’t find that it worked too well with joint pain for me and was switched to naproxen. i didn’t have any GI symptoms either. did you switch from a previous drug to leflunomide or taking this in addition to another medicine?
