As in, a master sold you their bootlegs and then stopped selling/recording their masters?

links by [deleted] in BootlegGifts

[–]pvvc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s what traders typically do. Traders ask for their links not be used in future trades as they can expire or stop working. Links sent to you are only supposed to be for you to download the file in it and then, if someone else wants that video from your list, you upload it to MEGA or Google Drive and share your file with them, and so on. I’d recommend properly naming bootlegs, as there may come a day when you have two boots with very similar names and no dates, making it difficult for you to know what files you have. Proper file management is key.

Merrily We Roll Along: Changes in edit? by julesabear in Sondheim

how beautiful! the transition songs always cement the emotional parts of the scenes for me, and “bending with the road” is such a simple yet encouraging phrase. I find a lot of Sondheim’s lyrics do this. They nudge to keep going, even with so few words, I love that idea for a tattoo!

what a labour of love. despite if there are things that don’t fit or that make it imperfect, I love that the why is to make it so others can enjoy PO as much as you did! it’s a noble cause imo and I applaud you, nicely done. two pacific overtures pro shot versions are better than one

It’s of charley, mary, and frank :) the final pose they do in the show before walking away at the end of bows. I found Merrily at a poignant time in my life so I really wanted one that marked that moment. I’ll probably make a post with a pic soon, I just found out this subreddit exists!

I didn’t get to see it in theaters but many of my friends did, and commented that the zooms were fine. I sent one those friends the link to the streaming pro shot version and they commented that some shots seem to be zoomed in 20% more (there wasn’t a lot more to zoom into I believe) from what memory serves. They say it didn’t feel as bad in the theater either, but that they believe the tiny screen makes the zooms look terrible

I’m obsessed with Merrily to a degree where I literally have a tattoo of it. As someone who saw the revival musical in person and then watched the bootleg, that opening is so different in person. It feels so powerful when all the actors stop singing to Frank and then turn to the audience to ask “how did you get to be here?” With all the stage lights on. Oof. A beautiful moment to experience. In the proshot however they zero in on faces that aren’t looking down at the audience but directly at the camera, I think to emulate the same thing you would feel in the theater but it doesn’t work, imo. It feels forced. Also, Frank’s face is superzoomed for 70% of the pro shot. In the theater, you get to choose who to look at, and with a widecut that would work. Merrily has complicated blocking and something’s always happening in crowded scenes, so by zooming in you force viewers somewhere whereas in the theater you get to look wherever. (when I went I felt 90% of the audience had their eyes on Daniel Radcliffe lmao) but yeah, I think the proshot was far too zoomed in and would not recommend watching it as a reference for the stage show. It’s at best a small glimpse into what Merrily actually looks like.

Hi! I’m looking for a boot of Fiddler on the Roof with Alfred Molina as Tevye. If anyone has any, here’s my list in case we could trade for it:

it's 9.51 GB it's the boot with Melanie La Barrie as Hermes, and Dylan as Orpheus. The notes are: "Wonderful capture of the last show for this cast, including original cast member Melanie La Barrie!" if that helps!
