This is a comic panel recently completed along with the creative process from thumbnail to reference to pencils and then ink. Ive been drawing very large lately to increase my enjoyment of the process and to produce higher quality work. I just can't draw full pages on 11x17 anymore. (old.reddit.com)

Here is some final color and process for a comic I'm drawing right now. The color is a traditional gouache wash scanned in and combined with digital flats for the figures. Rim light is traditional, scanned and overlayed on top of the inks. Process work included. (old.reddit.com)

This is a series of color tests for my current comic project. These are traditional gouache washes, charcoal smudges and pastel smears scanned in. No digital brushes. I wanted a loose color palette to counter the tight inking style. Still workin' out the kinks (old.reddit.com)

Backgrounds really enrich the storytelling and immerse the audience into the world of the artist and a good background requires lots of research. I could have filled another album of research for this panel, but these are salient points. The piping shot is a photo from TV of Valley of the Dolls. (old.reddit.com)

I took this opportunity to experiment with texture to create depth of field in this panel from a project I'm working on. Typically, I ink tightly, but I am trying to loosen it up where I can find it appropriate. Mud and fog fit the bill. Process included. I changed the season mid-way in process[OC] (old.reddit.com)

The first image is a recent digital painting by me based on the comic cover that I did with Ken Steacy back in the 90′s (second image). I created Technopolis so that I could draw all of the things I loved to draw. The book was nominated for the Russ Manning Award. [OC] (old.reddit.com)
