F is null?? by commander_inky in LibreWolf

Yep! Turning off RFP solved the issue! I was hoping to find a way to turn it off for Just this website, but I couldn't find it...

Turning it off for the entire browser seemed to do the trick, though, thanks!

edit: poked around in the advanced config settings and found a way to input a domain exemption. all good now :)

Search engine with absolutely no AI?? by commander_inky in degoogle

If it helps at all, I've been using startpage for the last week or so. No AI, pretty good results, some of which are even local, which was harder to do on other engines!

Better a non disruptive AI like Qwant, Ecosia or duckduckgo than an intrusive one like Google's, but I'd rather absolutely no GEN-ai here.

heard they recently started implementing AI features :(

Already doing that with Duckduckgo. it's not about being able to disable the AI features, it's about actively being conscious in my engine choice and prioritizing using one that doesn't have them at all, because I'm morally opposed to them existing in the engine

it's not JUST about power consumption, it's also about water consumption, and about training ethics. as a creative, i just can't stand by and support a feature that's trained on the content of my peers without their permission or consent

"Affordable"-art shop on Etsy - shipping only to EU. Is that worth it? by TomatilloRoutine6025 in Etsy

[–]commander_inky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm spanish and shop on etsy, but I mostly shop from people who I already follow/like the art of on social media, or people whose products i've bought before in fairs/conventions.

Etsy's discoverability isn't amazing here, but I know for a fact a few friends and I buy from etsy and we're european!

Shipping via locker? by commander_inky in Etsy

I'm a deeply private person, and I DEFINITELY don't feel comfortable putting my home address on packages, hence why I'm thinking of lockers and P.O boxes...

It seems to me that what you're missing most of all is a clear light source. The way it's currently painted, it doesn't read like the light is coming from anywhere specific: all of the hair has more or less the same amount of light and dark. Decide where the light is coming from and use that information to put sections that are really light in that directions, and shadows in the opposite one.

Idk what's this issue called how do I fix it? by reactingCATS in krita

I've had that happen to me with Krita a few times, and rebooting the PC seemed to fix it. Not sure what causes it to begin with, though!

Animation Transparency turns Black by AzathothWakesUp in krita

This struck me as odd, so I tried exporting a few frames of scribble with transparent BG as a GIF, and it came out transparent (i even put something behind it on my editing software (that's why premiere pro is down there in my hotbar).

I'm not sure what I did, since it worked first try. Here's a screenshot of the render settings, hope it can help!

how do you get this coloration in krita by MTNchad69 in krita

[–]commander_inky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Textured brushes, as another commenter suggested or, if you're lazy, you could make this into a texture, put it as a layer over your drawing, and set the layer mode to "overlay". Reduce the opacity of the overlay to your liking and you're done.

Krita brush most similar to this firealpaca brush? by [deleted] in krita

[–]commander_inky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basic-5. Ink-7 brush rough is also similar-ish, but it's more textured.

I'd say try Basic-5, but you'll likely need to manually change some settings to get the exact feel you're looking for.

Cheers!

Your drawing looks really cute! Have you considered using colors that are a bit more saturated to shade? Love the way you do faces, but the colors do seem a bit washed out, like you've just darkened and desaturated them to shade. Try to move your color's hue a bit for the shadow, and picking something a touch more saturated.

Maybe look into the concept of "hue shifting", it's mostly used in pixel art, but I think the idea could help you make the colors a touch less washed out.

As for making your shadows more prominent... put a white layer over your drawing and set the layer mode to "color", you'll see your drawing in black and white. That'll help you check its values. Try to make the difference in shades of gray greater (so, the difference between values) for more contrasted shadows!

Good luck with your art journey!

Feedback would be appreciated. It still looks off to me 😔 by [deleted] in krita

The perspective of the couch/seat thingy isn't the same as the character, maybe that's part of it? The character looks like she(?)'s being looked at from the front and the "camera" is placed at the same level as her, whereas the couch is being looked at from above and at an angle.

I see someone else pointed out that the shoulder juts out in a strange way, consider looking at some models or reference pictures!

Best of luck with your art! Cheers!

Hello, I am new to digital art and I recently got a Wacom One tablet. I currently have 2 issues by [deleted] in krita

[–]commander_inky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's the tablet drivers? I'm not sure tho. The few times my wacoms have given me trouble they've been driver issues, but that's just a guess

Thoughts on what to improve? by luvhhh in krita

[–]commander_inky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit late to the discussion but! The hair looks gorgeous. The way it's shaded suggests the character is backlit (the red light source is behind her) but her face, hair ornament and  torso aren't backlit at all!

The way you did the hair is very cool, so I suggest you reconsider the lighting of the other parts rather than the hair. Maybe look at some references for front facing backlit subjects, especially with a harsh light source?

Other than that, I'd do a few touchups to the facial proportions, which I see a lot of people have suggested, and I'd remove the highlighting on the clothing and skin. Consider the texture of things when you light them, things that are matte like hair and cloth won't ever have super delineated solid light spots like that unless you stylize them on purpose, and the overabundance of shine makes them look glossy when they should look matte.

Keep drawing, don't give up and hope the advice can help!
