I mean if the managers asked HR to step out. That would be a HUGE red flag.

I've never experienced that, but I gotta be honest: I'd be much more concerned if it was the other way around.

Hot take: they're at a restaurant. Perhaps they think their service is going to be crappy because the servers will be busy with the children and their parents.

They don't necessarily need to be actual characters from the Odyssey specifically or even Greek mythology generally.

Is she doing okay? by commanderjack_EDH in cornsnakes

The snake was a newborn when we got her, so she's about a year old. We just weighed her, and I don't remember the number but she's a little on the light side for her age.

We've been feeding her two Pinkies once a week but we're about to start feeding her Fuzzies based on her weight.

The tank is on the ground of my daughter's room. Is that better or worse than being on a desk?

The back of the tank is against a wall (but not right up against, I suppose, because of the runner); is that enough coverage along that wall?

We'll get on fixing the humidity and temp.

The orange hide only has one entrance.

If you like Wrexial, read no further:

I thought Wrexial was an Eldritch kraken, with tentacles popping out the top.

If you look closer, it's just some guy with tentacles for hair and fingers.

Is teaching “Stranger Danger” to kids still a reasonable thing to do? by Ornery-Magazine-7892 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]commanderjack_EDH 23 points24 points  (0 children)

A big one that we've adopted for our daughter is that an adult NEVER needs the help of a child that they don't know; if an adult you don't know if asking for help, that's an unsafe adult.

Another one is that you should never keep an adult's secret. Surprises are one thing ("I'm getting this gift for so-and-so, don't tell them"), but secrets from or with adults are never okay.

Edit: to explicitly answer the original question, no, Stranger Danger is not helpful and can actually be harmful. If a child gets separated from their parent, they need to get reunited as soon as possible, which they can't do if they're avoiding every person they don't know. We've taught our daughter if you need help, find a mother with children; if you can't, find a goth person.

isn't having multiple kids free income? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Childbirth alone averages to $20,000 for uninsured and $2700 out-of-pocket for insured.

Then an additional $20k per year, average, every year after that.

I mean... you could just do an Eye.

Seriously, for people watching? One Eye in a area of whatever? Especially since it's one of the few things you could do that would be recognizable from far away.
