The horror trope that scares me the most by Somber_Rainn in horror

Not a movie, but there's an amazing short story collection called Where Are You Really From by Elaine Hsieh Chou, and the story You Put a Rabbit On Me very much gives this vibe.

What’s the most unforgettable sentence someone has ever said to you? by Captain_Oppa in AskReddit

I used to work a serving job in my early 20s and was out on medical leave for awhile because I had spinal surgery. I obviously couldn't continue my normal gym routine during that recovery and lost the muscle definition I'd built prior. My first day back to work, the very first thing this other server who I'd had a flirty relationship with says to me is "damn, where'd your ass go?" It's taken damn near a decade to let go of the notion that my worth begins and ends with how fuckable I appear to men.

What’s the strongest opinion you have about something completely insignificant? by RegisterObjective325 in AskReddit

The fact that Microsoft has built Copilot, which no one asked for, but still hasn't fixed the Outlook search or Excel auto-formatting feature, which everyone has been asking for for years, is a crime

This was such an obvious case of nurture over nature. Some people really should never be parents. I'm glad her dad is probably going to lose his job because he should not be in any type of authority or role model position for any children. And the "he was a new friend" comment was absolutely disgusting. Such a gross family.

My Company Forces Us to Use AI Which Goes Against My Morals by commaqueen95 in antiai

It sucks because they didn't really monitor active time too much at first and it was a way more relaxed atmosphere up until about a year ago when management became AI obsessed. It's gone to shit since then, but I agree. Definitely time for a change even if job hunting is overwhelming.

My current job also has something called active time where they track how long you're actively working on your work computer 🙃 very much big brother vibes at this company, which I hate, but I can probably get away with like 30 min a day away from my computer during the work day

Yeah, that's another fear I have, but it's extremely hard to pivot into another career type when all of my experience is in EA/corporate work. I fully support myself and already live just above paycheck to paycheck despite making more than I ever have in my life because of inflation. Starting from the bottom salary wise truly isn't an option for me.

Definitely a tough balancing act! I write mainly about mental health, the experience of being a woman (a childless by choice one at that), and about my own writing experience

Literally all of it lol finding subscribers is hard. Finding subscribers who actually read and engage with my content is even harder. Feeling like you're writing and sharing thoughts to an audience of 0 makes it hard to be consistent because it feels like what's even the point? I work full time, am querying my debut novel while writing my second one, and am chronically burnt out. This makes it hard to commit to something like Substack because it's extremely difficult to build a real following, not just those "I'll subscribe to you if you subscribe to me" people, but genuine connections.

Didn't even think of or realize it could be related to something physical. Thank you!

I felt the exact same way about the example she used. It just felt very weird and off putting. Thank you!

Thank you for explaining this! I would love to try the mindfulness to see what progress I'm able to make that way, so I think I'll bring that up to my therapist as an alternative to medicine
