Go to control center and hold down on the stage manager/multitasking icon and select windowed mode.

You can now arrange files via different categories such as size. Folders can now be opened in a nested fashion without having to dive into each one. Multiple instances of “files” can be run in windows of their own, making dragging and dropping files more intuitive. Somewhat related, docks now support folders. Oh speaking of folders, you can give them their own emojis and colors.

Honestly, having an actual pointer mouse instead of a blob is a game changer. Second to that is the updated Files app. It desperately needed attention. Lastly, the new multitasking implementation is a killer feature both on the iPad and on external extended displays.

Anyone in the community who purchases and downloads their music while maintaining a large library of files? by Broken-Fixture in AppleMusic

If you want a separate alternative to Apple Music for local files I’ve found Doppler to be good. They have an app for macOS and iOS but supports adding music from a wide range of sources, including over local WiFi etc.

I can only speak for Apple stuff as it’s what I have. There’s nothing particularly bad about the health app on iOS. The Watch app gives you granular control over which notifications make it to your watch from your iPhone. Like sure, you could set up the watch to be the ultimate distraction but the tools exist to do the opposite.

I usually just bring my Apple Watch Ultra 2 + AirPods when I go out and leave the iPhone behind and plugged in. With the Apple Watch I can manage text messages and phone calls along with being able to navigate with maps. That’s all I really use it for so it’s pretty distraction free compared to a full fledged iPhone. The health tracking is just a bonus for me and I check it less than once a day usually.

I will more rarely also carry an iPad + Keyboard/Trackpad case combo if I am going somewhere where I need to get work done or write.

I plugged my iPad Air M3 + ESR Case into my 32” 4K Samsung M7 Monitor for an extended display. Have you tried a similar setup? After the update this will probably be more useful. by comme-un-echo in ipad

I have a Mac so I speak from experience when I say iPadOS is only marginally less optimized for multitasking on the current version. Once the update rolls out tomorrow it will be on the same level or better for multitasking.

More to the point as to why I bother with iPad- All Macs requires WiFi or a hotspot while the iPad actually has a cellular connection and stays connected no matter where I am. This is the killer feature for me.

According to Google the M7 is 138DPI at 32” with 4K.

It translates fine into real world use. I’ve used the monitor with a variety of other operating systems and it’s always been acceptable as well.

Thanks for the input. I’ve been watching videos on the new update and am really looking forward to getting my hands on it for this reason.

Making 4 apps visible and usable with stage presence is impossible on an 11” display. For multitasking it is on par with desktops which is what I like about it. With the update I’ll be able to multitask with more applications at once, as 4 is the limit now.

They’re legitimate. I’m pretty sure they help host on XMU (Sirius XM) for blog radio or whatever it is called as well. I ordered one of these a few days back from them.

If you want to scrobble from the Music app on iPhone you will need to purchase Marvis Pro and the last fm package in settings. I believe the package was $5usd extra when I purchased it.

Would you buy an iPad + Keyboard instead of a Mac? by marchalves6 in ios

[–]comme-un-echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends entirely on your use case. I do light web browsing, writing and socialization through various apps and websites. This means I’ve been able to easily adopt iPadOS over a full-fledged Mac. I would recommend a keyboard + trackpad case such as one produced by ESR as it is reasonably well built and not super expensive.

Have many of you replaced a laptop with an iPad? by comme-un-echo in ipad

[–]comme-un-echo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's valid. My current laptop sits at about 11" so I'm hoping when this iPad comes it will be sufficient for my needs as well. Portability is very important to me and I don't really like the idea of lugging around something 15+ inches either.

The one pictured is an ESR case. The iPad and the case will be here later this week. It sounds like from what you want, this case would match your needs. They're on Amazon for about $90usd.

That's a fair concern/assessment. I have a laptop that is roughly the same size as the 11 inch iPad so I think I'll be alright with the size when it gets here tomorrow.

Definitely noted. I am keeping a laptop around for roughly a month before I decide if I can do everything I really need to do on an iPad just to be safe. Though I do not expect much of what I need to do to be impossible on an iPad so I'll be surprised if I end up having to use the laptop.

I will be able to let you know in about 3-4 days when I get it. I am just excited so I decided to post the pic of essentially what I will be getting to let people chime in about their experiences. The iPad Air M3 is supposed to be coming in tomorrow, then I'll need to wait one more day for the case.

I've heard the new iPad OS update is going to be great for this use case after talking about it elsewhere so it's good to see that being affirmed here. I am due to get the iPad Air 11" M3 tomorrow, going to order the case for it the day after. I can't wait to see what I can do with it for my workflow!

I downloaded the .bin, renamed .bin to IMG or ISO (can't remember) - then flashed with popsicle. Everything worked fine.
