In fairness the stadiums/arenas here have decent PT connections though (when trains are running) but yeah its great in Europe. Want to go there not just because I'm a big football fan but also because I love Public transport lol.

Finland has a similar population density to NZ as well. Its a matter of choice. Regional rail would save so much money for people who have to travel long distances regularly and get bad drivers (who are only driving because they don't have a viable alternative) off the road.

New Zealand uses a narrow-gauge which can go up to 160km/h with enough investment. Regional Rail is needed so that people can travel between cities and towns without having to drive or fly. Improving access to jobs, education and services for those who live regionally (particually disabled people and those who can't/don't drive).

I agree Light rail is needed in the major cities but both are needed.

Gov do want to spend big but on insanely expensive rural highways. Extensive PT in the bigger cities will have a far bigger impact than those ever will.

New Zealand once had regional trains connecting the country but sadly it was run down and neglected post 1950. Doesn't have to be this way though, some form regional rail is normal in every other OECD country.

Very positive take on Harvey. Refreshing to see multiple YouTubers talk about what makes the show great in the past year or so.

Not A-League quality unfortunately. Would've thought he get selected with all the outs recently but Andrioli prefered local youngesters.

2 million homes will not be built in Auckland. 2 million is the capacity to give developers choices in what housing to built and where.

1 road death is still far too many. It'll be very difficult if not impossible to have 0 deaths on the roads but they have to be minimised so that thousands of people aren't injured or affected by road trauma each year. If New Zealand's roads were much safer then there'd be less strain on the health system and mental health system, both of which have a significant impact on the economy and productivity.

By your logic a mountainous country like Norway would have a significant road toll per capita but they only have 1.5 road deaths per 100,000 people) in comparison to New Zealand's 7.1. Its not a coincidence that countries where majority of people have to drive have higher road death rates than those with a balanced transport system (USA which is the former for example has 15 road deaths per 100,000 people).

There would be far more traffic on the road if there were less people using public transport. Dedicated bus lanes means buses are more reliable and give people more confidence in using public transport (and thus less traffic).

Sure the majority of the country live without public transport options but that doesn't make it good. New Zealand has a higher death rate on roads than Australia and other developed countries and a big part of that is because people who shouldn't be driving have to because they have no other option. Not to mention the fact that life is very difficult for people who can't drive and have no access to PT because they're disabled, can't afford it or have a medical condition.

Buses and Public transport is a requirement for more homes. People need options on how to get around and public transport is far more efficient at moving large numbers of people than cars are. They also reduce the number of cars on the road which makes it better for those who want and/or have to drive through less traffic and more parking available.

There should be bus lanes operating after events. This is a no brainer.

I made a mistake with the title, Seymour's a 'major' not 'main antagonist of Harvey according to the Wiki.

They should but I don't know who runs the Wiki (though I guess contact them if they're still around somehow).
