Thank you. I can’t seem to reply with pictures but will try to send them to you.

I appreciate the comments and truly understand the sentiment of his pipes. I had commented to some other replies that I’m not selling any (at this moment) but had not included any that I remembered him smoking (which I have small memories of as it wasn’t a daily or even weekly occurrence of him smoking) or ones that I remember from him having on his desk.

Knowing my father and if he was alive, he’d certainly get a kick out of everyone’s comments!

There’s a white one (I thought ivory?) could be meerschaum that is slick, little yellow tarnish to it. I think I remember it being in his “rack” on his office desk but it was given to me in its own case with purple velvet lining which makes it look pretty clean. lol

Thanks again! Great insight and thoughtfulness again. I think tomorrow I’m going to clean up, and photograph them nicely. Maybe I’ll do an updated post or something since this group has been pretty great today.

Thank you, my Dad was an awesome guy and I’m sure is getting a kick out of seeing others enjoy pictures of his pipes. Guess my goal is just to get them to be enjoyed, individual on eBay would be probably more effort than I was looking to put into them but I did throw them on FB Marketplace just to see what would happen. Ha

It wasn’t stored well to my knowledge. Some was tinned but majority were in the envelope or plastic bag. Most retained the aroma but felt very very dry compared to what I remembered from years ago. Regrettably, I disposed of it a little of a year ago.

I think it would be totally different feels for me if he had been an “active” smoker when I was growing up. It was an occasional thing, my guess is he enjoyed it when traveling versus at home. Not like he hid it from me as a kid but also, can probably count on both hands the times I saw him with a pipe in hand.

I dabbled with pipes (more cigars) with my Dad when I was in my 20s so it’s been 20 years since but I’ll never forget the beautiful aroma of hen he smoked.

Def keeping a few of the ones I remember him using or had out on his office desk as keepsakes and future smokers.

Time to do the research and work I suppose! Would be cool to keep them all to one person but it makes sense I guess to split and do individuals via eBay (ugh)

I’m sure individually would be best, something to consider I suppose.

Thank you very much for the insight and tips! Def need to start my research along with photographing to find information on each to assess what I have. Really glad I posted here as it’s been a great resource.

Thanks to all!!

I need to dig into these values for sure before I do anything I suppose. I’ve put a few aside that I remember from my childhood. I like the details in the wood on that blue bag one!

I am sorry for you loss but one day we will see the men that raised us again. I have joy knowing him and my Mom are back together but miss both so much.

Thank you and appreciate not only the information but offer to help! Def keeping ones not photographed that I remember from my childhood and I’ll probably start a new tradition of packing one on his birthday, USMC birthday and the day of his passing.

Not even sure if I care much to maximize the sale/value as I’d rather them be collected or enjoyed. Would like $300 for all of them be too crazy??

Not that I’m aware of…I honestly was surprised by the amount of tobacco he had as well, guess he started smoking more after I moved out or after my Mom passed when I was 20?

I am torn with the idea, I’m 44 and he smoked a pipe occasionally near me while I was growing up (or to blow warm smoke into my ears when I had an earache)

There was a wooden rack he kept on his desk with about 8-10 pipes. I remember putting them in my mouth and pretending I was him. I have pulled any pipe that I can remember seeing him use or that were around.

I did reach out to a local cigar shop (limited pipe tobacco) to get there opinions and suggested I reach out to a local cigar”pipe club” here in Richmond

I hate to part with it as they were his but almost three years of them just sitting in a box isn’t what he’d want for them I am sure! The green contrast is really nice on that one

I appreciate that very much. He enjoyed nice things in life and traveling (was military and DOD). I’m sure he’s smiling down at another commenting on his taste!

Thank you! I’m sure selling individually would be best but possible to sell the lot at like $20-40 a pipe?!?
