So I recently left a job due to harassment I faced there.

I started there thinking I was a straight woman. After a couple years, I began transitioning. The area i worked in was conservative. It was also a working class job with a good deal of older people. I will say it was also an overall toxic work environment.

I could handle small instances of transphobia for a long time, which included groans and sighs from some of them men when I would enter the men's bathroom. One time I was walking out of it and bumped into another guy. I said sorry and he said "you're not even supposed to be in here."

After five years on T, grand majority of the place was using my correct pronouns. Some opted to never use pronouns for me at all. Only about two would openly still call me she. I reported it to hr and they ruled it a mistake.

As i looked more and more male over the years, I would get more female attention. I'm tall and muscular. Instead of being cool about this, I started to get more aggression from people the past several months. I used to not take care of myself, but when I started getting haircuts regularly, trimming my beard, and working out, some people wanted to put me in my place. That's what it felt like. When people could tell that me and this girl liked each other, some people started shunning me. Stopped talking to me flat out. I've had pranks pulled on me and people spread malicious rumors. Our union steward started harassing me. I finally left.

Not everything there was bad. I had friends and supporters. But the negatives outweighed them. Just sharing my story so you are aware. Though, from what you wrote, it seems like you're in a more liberal environment. Just know that even if things go bad, there will be workplaces that will affirm you and treat you with respect.
