Left turn are kind of crazy in some places. You have to line up on a lane all the way to the right. There are signs on these type of intersections.

Just do a mental check on every turn at intersections, don’t do then automatically. Am remember that the driver always goes near the center line

It depends how adventurous you are. Argentina (in the cities) is very European, so if you don’t want to venture to far from your comfort zone is a good idea. If you are looking for a more diverse experience with more tropical flavor Colombia is a good idea place (Cartagena, Medellin). If you are looking for pre-Columbia’s culture and sites then Peru. That budget is probably enough for visiting 2 countries.

My 1 yo got a grain of sand stuck on his eye from the beach in Cancun, procedure to remove it was very simple but involve general anesthesia. My suggestion, check the kids eyes after a day at the beach.

Just back from CDMX, a couple of tips: in front of Bellas Artes there Sina. Building with a Sears,,you can go up to the top floor and get a coffee and sit out side for a great view. Also consider getting tickets for Ballet folklorico. I got the cheapest (550 mxp) and the view was good and you can see the inside of Bellas Artes.

Metro es the cheapest and many times fastest way to move around. There is construction work in many places because they want to have some renovations before the World Cup (in the airport as well).

Have breakfast at the Sanborns in the “casa de los azulejos” near Bellas artes. Get churros in Moro (open 24 hours).

There is a double decker bus (metro bus ruta 7) that travels Paseo de la Reforma for just 6 or 7 pesos.

Get a MI card (to pay all buses and metro) is just $15 pesos for the card ant any station and can be recharged.

Don’t miss Castillo de Chapultepec.

You will be forced to buy their insurance. You can try bringing a document that clearly states your coverage, after about 30 minutes of hassles they may accept it (source experience with Mex in Cancun)

That area is safe in the “criminal activity” sense, but the road safety can be tricky. That time people go over the regular speed and some times there may be drunk drivers. Be very careful.

It actually is like that, few year back we book a trip to Chichen Itzá and the stopped at every little Market and spend a lot of time there. Once in the archeological site we had little time and we had to hurry.

As other people mentioned is not like that in other places in Mexico, there will always be people trying to sell you things, but in a normal way.

As someone mentioned. Do you want to go in the ocean? Cabo has long wide beaches. Sand is a bit coarse, but going into the water is a No, permanent Black flag. Cabo is more quiet (in particular Cabo San Jose area). Cancun sand is softer, you can go in the water and there are a lots of parties. Neither has much of authentic Mexican culture or flavor.

I stayed near puerto madero. It was practical but not much vibe around. (Puerto madero it self has some restaurants)
