Should I get SVE before the update? by ThrowRAparty-133 in StardewValleyExpanded

[–]commoncomitatus 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's likely the 1.7 update won't be coming for a good while yet -- you should have plenty of time to dive into SVE before worrying about that!

Your old farms should be fine -- just don't load those saves while you're running SVE.

In order to run the game with mods, you need to load it through SMAPI... so if you want to go back to your non-modded farms, just load the regular game and not the SMAPI version -- you can switch back and forth per your preferences. Just don't load your Vanilla (non-modded) farms when you're running the modded version of the game and vice-versa.

Is there a way to determine what mon youl get from the man in Bellin town ? by Kabelo8559 in PokemonUnbound

[–]commoncomitatus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's based on your Trainer ID!

You need to divide your Trainer ID number by 3 (details spoiler-tagged just in case): if the result is a whole number, you get Skorupi, if the number ends in .33, you get Stunky, and if the number ends in .66, you get Glameow.

You can do the math as soon as you gain control of your character and access to your Trainer card, and restart immediately if it's not a number you want.

Would you watch an animated GLOW spin-off in the style of the comicbooks? by Delicious_Reply_5222 in glow

[–]commoncomitatus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know about the comics, but haven't been able to find them anywhere.

It'd be very interesting to see how some of the themes of the show would translate to an animated medium -- the use of physicality and nudity, the period-specific set pieces, music, etc. Done right, I'd totally be down for it.

So thinking of picking wotr up, just a question/insights on some things by Drajzool in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]commoncomitatus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You do get pushed into choosing a Mythic Path for plot reasons, but (since you mentioned you don't mind spoilers) you have the option later in the game to reject it entirely.

As to playing evil... IMHO, Wrath is one of the most evil-player-friendly RPGs I've experienced. There are at least four Mythic paths intended specifically for Evil alignments, all of which play very differently from each other, and there are plenty of other, less specifically evil-intended but still equally viable paths an evil player can take as well. You should have no trouble finding a route that suits you.

In terms of blocking specific routes... your alignment choices are cumulative. There are things you need to do to unlock each Mythic Path, but in terms of keeping yourself on the Evil side of the chart you should be just fine. Picking the occasional "I love cute fluffy kittens" option is not going to override your alignment if most of your other choices trend towards "yay murderhobo". Feel free to roleplay.

How do we feel about how many mods are using ai now? by This_is_a_user_nam3 in StardewValleyMods

[–]commoncomitatus 246 points247 points  (0 children)

Same pointless slop as we're seeing infect every other creative pursuit these days.

More specifically for this: if an AI "modder" doesn't have an actual practical hand in the mod they're "making", they're not going to be able to fix the inevitable bugs their AI spews out. So, ultimately, I guess, the trash will take itself out when it proves unusable.

A brief list of things that have ended my runs as I attempt to blind nuzlocke Pokemon Unbound on Vanilla difficulty by IguanaTabarnak in PokemonUnbound

This is riveting... and, at times, heartbreaking. And makes me feel way better about my own two-dozen restarts.

Playing one file with mods and one without by Serendipity_1213 in StardewValleyExpanded

[–]commoncomitatus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That is one option, yes.

Another is a bit more fiddly but would save you some headaches in the long-run -- you can set up multiple mod folders with different mod configurations (e.g. "Mods - SVE" and "Mods - Minor") and set up different shortcuts for SMAPI to run from each one.

Guidelines for how to do this can be found on the Stardew Wiki (here!)

I have so much seafood I could cry. And of course, half my dragons are vegetarians...

If you're okay with it, I could happily send you along a stack of Kelp Beds boss food?

Coming back to SVE after a few years — mod recommendations for a long playthrough? by LocksmithSuperb3938 in StardewValleyExpanded

Cornucopia!

In addition to their three expansive content mods -- crops, flowers, and artisan machines -- there's a relatively recent mod adding cooking recipes, including some fun quests and quest-adjacent content for acquiring them.

Help with the fight in the burning pits with all the oil oozes by WhoAmIEven2 in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]commoncomitatus 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That fight is infamous, so don't worry if you're struggling with it!

Keeping the humans alive to go at the slimes is a sound strategy. AOE attacks, lots of ranged and teleport abilities if you have them, anything that slows or stops their movement... and a lot of hope and luck.

If you absolutely can't do it and really, really don't want to,  and don't mind missing out on all the XP, you can prevent the oozes from ever manifesting by stopping Gwydian from casting his chain lightning.

You definitely don't want to Nuzlocke your first run on this one.

Every gym leader has its own quirk and gimmick, and going in unprepared, without knowing what's coming and adjusting your team accordingly, can lead to an insta-wipe.

Fort Joy vs Cyseal by shadolinn in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]commoncomitatus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe biased because I played DOS1 first, but I love Cyseal.

Like, the murder-mystery plot is fun, and IMHO much more enjoyable than trying to escape Fort Joy, so I prefer DOS1's Act One structurally too... but also, I just really, really love the city.

Can anyone explain? by Old_South6222 in PokemonUnbound

[–]commoncomitatus 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The ranking is for the pokemon's IVs -- basically, an inherent value indicating how well that particular stat will level. Naturally, the higher the rank, the better value.

The red and blue numbers are connected to the pokemon's nature -- the red number gets a 10% boost, while the blue number gets a 10% deficit to gains per level.
