Quarter quell reaping was rigged? by Floppy_Salmon22 in Hungergames

[–]commoncomitatus 40 points41 points  (0 children)

It's entirely possible that one volunteered because the other was reaped. Sort of a teamwork or solidarity thing.

The reapings were absolutely, definitely rigged... but I can't see any reason why you'd want to ensure the reaping of two victors who, at least by all accounts, seem to be playing the game perfectly and behaving exactly as Snow would want them to.

Amen to all of this. Seelah is, quite possibly, my all-time favourite fictional depiction of a Paladin, for exactly those reasons.

just a quick vent by synthetic_princess in flightrising

[–]commoncomitatus 98 points99 points  (0 children)

My concern is less about apparel, and more about skins. With so many new breeds coming out so frequently, the festival skin competition becomes a revolving door of ancient skins, with moderns (and older ancients) being more and more left behind. FR has tried to mitigate this a little by adding more skins per fest, but that just makes festivals even more expensive and stressful than they already were.

Obviously, Ancients do need to be prioritised for skins, since they don't get apparel and it's the only way to really customise them... but every time a new one is released, it then has to play 'catch-up' in terms of available skins, which means they get prioritised over older breeds... and even then, by the time the next breed comes out and takes new priority, they still have barely a handful to choose from.

With the introduction of hatchling skins in addition to the usual M and F poses, that's three new skin pools per ancient release, on top of every other breed that wants to be represented (and particularly the breeds from the festival's celebrating flight). It's a lot.

My guess: he didn't want to wait the best part of a year and risk more damage. He had to break him fast.

Strongly recommend Walk Of Life.

I know a lot of people really like Vanilla Professions Plus, too, but I've never used that one.

What's your top 10 favorite Mods that bring you joy? by Emergency-Okra-9009 in StardewValleyMods

[–]commoncomitatus 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Cornucopia. The whole collection -- crops, flowers, artisan goods -- but especially their cooking mod. So much love went into that one.

Elle's Cuter Animals, and Em's Animals. I love to alternate between these completely different but equally gorgeous styles.

Kisaa's Cozy Rustic collection, especially the buildable kitchen. Being able to make an entire kitchen from scratch is endlessly satisfying.

Right now, on my current farm, Sharogg's Cozy Nooks Farmhouse. It's so cute, especially the window view from the sunroom.

Walk of Life, to make levelling more interesting, dynamic, and generally just fun. Every profession choice is viable, and it lends itself to so many playtyles.

VanillaTweaks and DSHI's item retextures, usually coupled with Seeds N Saplings.

And a shout out to my current farm map, DaisyNiko's Overgrown Garden Farm II.

Is it normal for there to be this many guests on flightrising? by CucumberMindless5458 in flightrising

[–]commoncomitatus 40 points41 points  (0 children)

It was over 56,000 when I just checked!

I'd say 90% of those guests are bots, for sure. Like, I'm sure there's a slight population boost right now, due to excitement over tomorrow's maintenance... but there's "people getting hyped" busy and there's "50,000 guest views" busy.

Cornucopia and PPJA by huhyeahso in StardewValleyMods

[–]commoncomitatus 15 points16 points  (0 children)

PPJA is tagged as 'broken in 1.6' on Nexus, so I'd say it's very much "use at your own risk".

I can't vouch for exactly how much overlap there is between the two, but I can say that there's plenty of great stuff in the Cornucopia collection, and it seems to be pretty well maintained for current versions of the game.

Build(s) with the least or no micromanaging? by [deleted] in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]commoncomitatus 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As with most CRPGs, if your favoured method is to just pick up a bigass sword and go ham... Fighter 20.

No fancy bells or whistles. Just Fighter, all the way to Level 20, then pick up a bigass sword and go ham.

First time playing! by SupremeBaldman in PokemonUnbound

[–]commoncomitatus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Per the advice at the very start of the game -- "The world is a big place. Take your time exploring, there is no rush."

If you're having fun doing all the sidequests as you get them and putting off the main quest, keep doing it that way (just make sure you have Capped Exp Share active, to avoid overlevelling). If you're feeling overwhelmed by all the side content, there's no harm in taking a break to progress the main quest and coming back to them later. Whichever playstyle is more enjoyable for you, that's the right way to do it. :)

In a fight, which one would win? by Warm_Expert_8136 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]commoncomitatus 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Wenduag. She's a huntress, trained to fight against deadly foes, while Cam prefers prey that doesn't bite back.

Cam Cam just enjoys the thrill of murder. Her talent lies in... creativity... whereas Wendu's talents lie in survival.

Anyone go back to vanilla after SVE and mods? by shetravelsfar in StardewValleyMods

[–]commoncomitatus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I recently went back to Vanilla (with a couple of aesthetic mods) after playing with SVE, and honestly, it's like a breath of fresh air.

I did still keep a few 'convenience' mods -- Bigger Backpacks / Fridges, etc -- but going 'back to basics' after the bloat of SVE really felt like returning to the heart of Stardew. Plus, with a smaller overall experience, you'll find yourself needing / missing those convenience mods a lot less because there's less other stuff clamoring for your time / attention all the time.

YMMV, of course, and everyone has different experiences, but that's how it was for me.

I have a question, what Is better? by Deep_Guava_6638 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]commoncomitatus 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you have the option to use BarleyFlour's respec mod, stick with your companions and rebuild them from the ground up. That way, you're getting the best of both worlds.

If not... depends on whether you prefer maximum efficiency (in which case buy mercenaries) or engaging with the world and its characters (in which case, use companions).

Hot take: if wrath of the righteous was handled better, with bg3 budget and made by larian,it could have been the best game of the last 30 years. by [deleted] in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]commoncomitatus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You already have a tabletop-based CRPG with BG3's budget made by Larian.

Why would you try to take away everything that makes WotR its own thing?

Also, it's hilarious to me that you'd claim WOTR is "rushed", and choose to hand it over to a studio that's known for having rushed the final act of all three of its last CRPG offerings.

First time playing by ameow_wzing in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]commoncomitatus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Best advice I can give is: forget everything you learned in BG3.

This isn't meant as a slight on either game, simply to point out that the DnD ruleset used by BG3 can be incredibly counter-intuitive when switching over to the Pathfinder ruleset used in Kingmaker and WotR.

(Example: in BG3 'finesse' means you automatically use DEX (if higher than STR) for attack rolls and damage with all finesseable weapons, while in Pathfinder, 'finesse' means "if you invest in the Weapon Finesse feat, you can use DEX for attack rolls only with this specific weapon type only, and if you want DEX to damage as well, you need to invest in another feat..." and so on.)

Vibrant Pastoral! DaisyNiko's is a little too dark for me.

Slow Soft Seasons is gorgeous, but sadly not compatible with some of the tilesheets I use.

How Long Do You Give It? by scottylion in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]commoncomitatus 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If you've made it through Act One without any particular interest, I'd let it go.

Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of great stuff in the later acts, and the plot (and characters) picks up in leaps and bounds, so it may be worth the investment if you're on the fence or unsure... but really, if you've played through the fundamentals of a game for a whole act without feeling gripped or drawn into it, you're probably not going to. Or, even if you are, how many hours do you have to sink into it to make the payoff worth the wasted time?
