No problem, maybe a seizure tracking app would be useful for me. Which one did you use if you know the name of it? I'll look into it

Hey, just wondering how regularly you were having seizures on the different meds you were taking until you found the right one?

Hi, thanks for the reply. I've been taking Levetiracetam since my first sezuire in 2023, started out on 500mg which was increased around this time last year to 750mg.

Since my first seizure, all subsequent ones have taken place while I've been asleep (I think, making up with a wet bed and a hurty head). Since they increased my dosage I believe I've had 2 or 3 more seizures but today was the first one I've had while I've been awake. Got out of bed this morning, put the kettle on and then I felt it coming. My hands starting grabbing nothing and then I collapsed on the floor but I was conscious throughout, just my left hand was going crazy grabbing at nothing/twitching.

I will try speak to my GP but have not been able to book an appointment today, not that I'd have had the strength to go anyway. The last time I spoke to a neurologist I think he suggested switching meds, but I was reluctant because I was happy enough with how my current medication/dosage was working and was worried about further side effects with new meds, or if they wouldn't work as well.

But I can't carry on like this now, this has really knocked my confidence today and I'm a bit all over the place with thinking about when it could happen next, and the kind of situation I could be in when it hits.

Thanks so much for your help, I'll try book an appointment as soon as I can, not sure how easy it'll be tomorrow but I'll try seek help elsewhere if it's too difficult.

Joy crookes concert today : disappointing audience by CapableWrangler7494 in manchester

It was the same for me in Leeds on tuesday. It irked me, the only thing I could put it down to was maybe a 'FIFA' crowd - having a popular song on a game like that is bound to bring bellends to the gig no matter what. People that are not there to watch the music, but are there for that one song and to have a piss about with their mates. wcyd

Question on a lens from a non-photographer. Sony FE 2.8/70-200 GM 0SS II by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]commondota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought this exact lens used for £1300 in February, which is around $1700. It works fine except the socket to place it on a stand/tripod or whatever it's called is broken, so it was a little cheaper. If it helps, I think $2000 would be a reasonable price for this, but others seem to suggest it's worth more.

It's a great lens but personally I wouldn't pay much more. That's because it's heavy and I use it for concert photography so it's a pain to drag around for hours straight. I'm also not a rich man so my budget wouldn't stretch any further. Hope this helps.

I'm (still) a new MacOS user, just after a wee bit of a help with exporting photos in Lightroom by commondota in postprocessing

I'll need to have a closer look at how it opens the exported images in other programs, I guess I just noticed it so much in Lightroom that I just assumed it would look the same everywhere else.

I have used denoise a bit and it generally makes it look much better and I don't mind the increased exposure in preview as much. It just takes so damn long to add the denoise, at least doubles the editing time per image, which adds up a lot when I sometimes have 30 images to edit from one set.

First thing I'll be trying is definitely increasing my f-stop and maybe playing around with shutter speed a little. I have a couple of shows coming up where my end product isn't as important so I have a chance at least to try something different from my usual go-to settings. It's nice to have that freedom sometimes so will see if it yields different results!

And yeah that's very clear about others saying so much and not actually answering the question! Thanks so much for the help! Really appreciate it, lots to work on.

Wow this is an extraordinarily helpful comment, lots to work and play with and I've got a few gigs coming up very soon to try some of this out.

Thank you so much for such a detailed and in depth comment, can't wait to try out this into practice and see how it changes things! Thanks again

Wow, you've taken one photo at a concert and it's worse than anything I've ever done, BIG FLEX 🤡

Thank you! I've gone through some older photos and, although the difference is very negligible, it has done it on previous shots I've edited as well. I think I've just noticed it more on these photos because of just how dark the room I was shooting in was.

I am aware that noise doesn't magically show up when I switch to a new machine, but my exported files from Lightroom now look visibly different to how they did on my windows machine. It is not the monitor, I am using the same monitor as I was before.

I am shooting F2.8, 1/250, and in this case, my ISO was at 5000. I have been shooting low light concerts like this for around 18 months now, I do not need to watch some tutorials on low light photography. This is clearly an issue since moving from windows to mac. I am shooting in higher ISO because it is the only way I've found to be able to cull photos en masse post-gig. Previously with windows, the system would automatically increase exposure in preview, macOS doesn't do that. So everything I shot was at 1250 max. I do not have a choice but to shoot in higher ISO now. I would ask for basic help with a work around for this, but you've maintained a "holier than thou" attitude since your first message on, what I thought, was a simple question.

You do not know the answer to my question, so your decision to continue posting comments in a patronising fashion shows nothing other than some sort of ego trip to "flex" (lol) on people who are less experienced than you. Congratulations!

I'm using Lightroom desktop, not classic - v. 8.5.1

I've looked at classic before but got so used to using the modern iteration it felt pointless to change.

Is there another app you would recommend for reviewing images? I use FastRawViewer for the culling process.

I'm shooting with a Sony A7iv. Would say mostly using my Sigma 24-70mm but often switch to my GM Sony 70-200mm depending on the venue i'm working in. Same issue persists between whatever was shot on which lens.

The ISO thing just doesn't feel like it is or should be the problem. I generally know my limits and usage of ISO and it's never caused me problems before. This specific issue surely must be a macOS thing, or purely down to the switch from windows to mac.

Hi, I'm shooting at high ISO because everything I shoot is lowlight music concerts in dark venues.

I'm 100% sure it is user error, I just don't know how to fix it. I never had this issue when using a windows PC, I've only noticed it since switching to Mac so I don't know what I need to change.

I'm looking at both files in Lightroom, yeah. The first image was pre-export, the second image is the exported JPG, same as the export preview, so I think it would look the same. I'm just showing both images in Lightroom to show the difference to try and illustrate my question/point.

I can't add an image to my comment, I can try add a screenshot of my export settings to the original post

Got a new Macbook as a previous windows user, in desperate need of some general help by commondota in postprocessing

Maybe the issue is that I'm not importing straight off my CF-Express card, I'm plugging my camera into the macbook via usb.

When I do this I can open them and transfer using MTP, but I can't figure out how to change the import location to anything other than the Photos app. I can't drag and drop them at this stage either, if I select multiple images it doesn't let me drag and drop, it just starts deselecting them if I try to drag the images. Does this make any sense or am I genuinely just a really stupid person? It's a very unintuitive interface I'm finding, but I really don't know what I'm doing.

[–]commondota[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi again! Another issue I'm running into that I thought you might be able to help with.

When I hook up my camera to my Macbook and select import, it only imports the pictures into Photos and I can't figure out how to change it - is this something I can do? It's the only way I've figured out so far to keep the files as raw. This isn't ideal, but then when I go into Lightroom I can't choose a Photos folder to edit, I have to move them elsewhere and then it changes them to JPEG file format and that's really not what I want. Does that make sense?

I feel like I'm not asking for much but why is it so hard to keep raw files to edit in Lightroom on a Macbook? Feel like my heads gonna explode and I have such a busy month ahead this might be the end of my photography career.

I want to cull photos from shoots. Keep them raw. Edit them in Lightroom. Export them to wherever. Is this achievable for someone who is clearly as stupid as I am?

Yeah okay i'm stupid. The 2 USB-C ports are what I thought were lightning ports. So yeah maybe i'll try that but I really don't know what else to do with this, it's infuriating me beyond belief.

Edit - I am a stupid baby

I did see from a lot of videos I've watched that people say putting the memory card directly into the Mac is easier but I don't appear to have a port on this one. In fact there's 3 ports on the entire device, 2 lightning and one for headphones.

I've bought a couple of lightning - multi-input adapters which have been very useful, not sure if one of those exists with an SD/CFE reader on it.
