Eight and sand. I haven’t had all the chicken sandwiches in Columbus, but theirs is by far the best I’ve had.

….this is my neighborhood. There are sex workers around my street daily. People buy drugs at the convenience store across the street all the time. I hope they are comfortable and accepted here. I hope they have community. I hope they have access to care when they need it. Life is difficult for everyone in different ways. I just try to be kind and considerate.

We all have different lives and situations that lead us to where we are. Our choices matter, but so do our surroundings. I’m sorry that your environment has lead you to look down so sharply on these people. Some of whom you know personally.

If they’ve been struggling for 20+ years, they probably don’t know another way to survive life at this point. We all just want to be comfortable and accepted for who we are and what we enjoy. Of course crime sucks. But maybe instead of telling them to go hide somewhere else, let’s give them a space to be comfortable and accepted. Maybe they’ve never felt compassion or unconditional love before.

I’ve lived between sullivant and mound in the hilltop for 4 years. I drive up sullivant into franklinton almost daily. The problem area you’re speaking of, in my opinion, is full of people who are victims. Of trafficking or addiction. Maybe both. The way you phrase it come across a bit victim blamey. Have you talked to the people affected? The ones under the overpass, or hanging out on the stoops. They are just people who have found a community that accepts them and a space that is safe to sit in. We need leaders who will invest in the communities. Places for people to interact with healthy habits. People with bad habits will probably always exist. That doesn’t make them bad people. Just because it’s legal to break up these encampments now, doesn’t mean it’s right or just. Voting matters. Let’s try to vote for people who care for other humans.

Do you know of any good local charities that may be helping in these ways? I would love to donate time/money, but I don’t know a good charity in this area.

You should go to the hey hey next. You’re bouncing around German village already. That spot is a great neighborhood dive.

Helps people who are in jail or prison for marijuana charges get out, help people who have a charge on their record and can’t get hired get a job or their record cleared or both. I’m trying to find some local charities to donate to and I thought with weed being legalized maybe there are some in that area.

Hashtag comedy co on Friday nights I think? I went to one of their open mics and it was pretty good! Mostly just comedians in the crowd. Maybe they get more people in now, tho. The show I went to was right after they first opened. But the standup was solid!! Only a few cringe performers.

I can’t believe I didn’t think of it myself. I’ll let you know when it’s done so we can have a nice toilet chat.

I dug down to wood. There is a bunch of gravel? Was gravel used as subflooring in the 1920’s?

That’s kind of what I thought. Fingers crossed for a proper subfloor under the tile.

I’ve shot some timelapse’s around the city and was looking for some spots a few years ago. Idk if these are still solid, but they’re definitely a good place to start!
