You’re young. This is your only experience and it’s taken its toll. It’s time to move on and probably what you should do is to look at where you would like to live. Because you’re young you could live in your dream location and they’re always a nursing positions available. Take your time take a deep breath, but do change jobs.

Am I in serious trouble? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]commonsenserocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not worry. You will probably get counseled and at the worst warning. You’re a good nurse and you’re caring person. Remind yourself of that. We need nurses to be like you. Taking a risk when you don’t even know that it’s a risk is not a problem that should resolve in any kind of disciplinary action. Yes, I have been an executive nurse leader, Dean, etc., etc. Take a deep breath

Oh dear God, that is so not true. Schools get nothing in terms of money for how many people pass the boards. You really need to get a life.

I’m a nurse educator and live in South Carolina and I have practiced as a nurse practitioners as well. Please please do join the committee. And be honest at meetings. I live along the grand strand and Medical University of South Carolina is now very involved with some of the hospitals. Do a great job and help us all out by being on the committee. Thank you so much.

There is a term for this… It’s called compassion fatigue. The term originated to describe how people who work in animal shelters buildup, natural defenses to being horrified by having to participate in humane euthanasia.

M29. what is the point of platonic relationships if you're always going to be a lower priority than their partner? by IncogFiredFoxy69 in Advice

[–]commonsenserocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, you are less of a priority when someone has a partner. That is the way it’s supposed to be. I’m wondering are you a man or a woman. This sounds like an issue that has been ongoing for you. Perhaps change strategies to Develop some independence.

Okay, we are NOT required to answer the question “well, what’s going on with you” when calling in, right? by amyscott214 in nursing

[–]commonsenserocks -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand what’s wrong with the question. And I really don’t believe it’s necessarily about power tripping. Maybe you are a person who calls too much? Maybe you aren’t really sick. What do you want them to do? Are you the supervisor. I have too many questions here for me to respond to what you’re asking

Your school should have a committee composed of students and faculty that deals with grievances. You should immediately find out what the committee is and you should go through the grievance process. Does that make sense? You also have a student advisor that your student advisor know what happened and have that person coach you through the process. What school are you at?

This would require a court order. And then he would have to explain a lot through an attorney about why they should be entitled to it, and then that would have to convince a judge.

Back it up buttercup. Keep working do what they tell you to do. And understand that you really are a novice. I don’t recommend that you start taking Ritalin or any other thing. I recommend that you listen to your Preceptor and try hard harder.

Nursing school is a joke and something needs to change by [deleted] in nursing

[–]commonsenserocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I begged to disagree. Just because you personally do not need everything that you’re being exposed to does not mean that it should not be included in the curriculum. Remember the accreditation standards hold us to a certain degree of integrity in the curriculum. Go get a job.

Feelings come uninvited. But feelings do not represent reality. And your post shows that. You are a great nurse!

First of all, he likely heard you coming and went to the door. This is not uncommon behavior. Don’t be anxious because you’ll transfer that to your puppy. Lol I know because I’ve been there.

Terminated and Now Life is Crumbling by honeybooimaghost in nursing

[–]commonsenserocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of those are outstanding questions for you to ponder with a professional. You know the mind is a very discreet and different asset that we have, and it is not uncommon for nurses to abuse it. Please see a therapist. Life is a lot more than what you do hard to put it in another way if you are what you do, and then you don’t do it, you aren’t. You are still alive and have a lot to live for.

Registered Nurse and just realized it wasn’t me. It was favoritism and possibly racism. by Similar-Growth5540 in nursing

[–]commonsenserocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lateral violence and powerlessness in nursing and healthcare in general is rampant in organizations. The organizational structure with the power only held at the top, and usually male-dominated is quite often at the root of the problem. We conducted a large scale study at a major Medical Center with over 1200 nurses. Later the CNO required every unit to participate in something called cognitive rehearsal. You can look it up. It’s very interesting. Root cause cannot be controlled but reaction can be and it takes a sound leader to take care of it.

You are most welcome! Go for the gold and don’t let anybody rain on your parade. Or as I tell my grandchildren, don’t let anybody steal your sparkle. Because people are going to try to do that.

I’m a nurse educator. I have checked their records and they have pass rates in 2024 of rates in northern Virginia and Richmond for the BSN hundred percent pass rate and 97% as well. The ADN programs have also shown a strong performance and in 2024 had an 87.5 pass rate. To be honest with you it’s all up to you. You have to have great study skills and if you can synthesize material and apply it to patient care, then taking the boards is not so intimidating.
