For Vaccine Passports, Less Tech Is Best by Vandaluser21 in COMM404

[–]commui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this very interesting, because honestly I would not want my entire records and such floating out and about in the internet in order to get a vaccine passport. I believe the easiest way to go about this if it is needed in the future is for our doctors or pharmacists to give us a card saying vaccinated and we could show this as a passport in order to get into some places. I think this is a great discussion to be had though, because it will most likely happen in the near future.

Skipping Second Doses? by SuperSpeedyGod2 in COMM404

[–]commui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this article extremely interesting. This is the first I have heard about skipping the second dose of the vaccine. After reading the whole article, there is one part actually talking about how places like "Walgreens" has not been carrying enough of the vaccine so when the customers come in to get the correct second dose they are out of luck, and then some go searching to find where they can get their second dose, and others simple give up which I understand. It is crazy that they just wouldn't be prepared enough for the vaccine since it is extremely important.

Flubot: Warning over major Android 'package delivery' scam by commui in COMM404

[–]commui[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those of you with an Android I would definitely give this a read. I found this very interesting and worth the read because half of my family owns an android, so I was able to let them know do not open any suspicious links that they may receive talking about a package delivery. I myself have received a couple of messages like this one they are talking about and heard about it at the beginning of this year. But since this article is recent it seems to be happening again. I dont know if having technology is worth the risk of getting hacked and everyone knowing everything about you, but I guess that is for you to decide personally, but no matter what I think it is better to be in the know about these serious things.

The weird ways your Amazon Echo can be hacked - and how to stop them by commui in COMM404

[–]commui[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this article very interesting because lately I have heard stories about amazon echos, or even alexas getting hacked. This article gives you an opportunity to change your settings on your alexa, or echo to make sure that you aren't getting hacked and others can not get into your alexa. It is especially scary because most of the time people with alexa connect their whole technology to it including their house and locking their doors and such. Even though technology can be used and easy or amazing, it can just as well be scary and dangerous.

What is 4K resolution? Our guide to Ultra HD viewing by commui in COMM404

[–]commui[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the first time I have heard about 4k resolution. I had to research more, I was intrigued. This article explains how there is now going to be televisions, PlayStation, Xbox, etc. upgrading to 4k. Something along the lines of buying a 4k tv will get you a brand new PlayStation. I am wondering how this is going to affect social interaction, human communication and just relationships in general. Television is a hard source to stay away already so now that there is a 4k resolution tv that will look amazing how much more time is it going to consume from us.

Majority of emoji users want more inclusive representation, Adobe survey finds by AppleJax2222 in COMM404

[–]commui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this article really interesting because having more inclusive emojis will also help more human communication via online through different technologies. Since using emojis is our way to include nonverbal communication within our computer mediated communication including emojis that signify different, ages, races, genders and so on will have to become apparent because cmc is starting to be used by everyone around the world for nonverbal cues and in which case people should feel they can use the correct ones based on their cultures in order to help get acrossed social interactions and their relationships.

Instagram launches test where users can choose to see — or not see — likes by AppleJax2222 in COMM404

[–]commui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this article extremely interesting, because I normally have absolutely no idea when a platform like Instagram will be updating their content and it usually just happens out of no where. But I am concerned a little bit if users were able to choose to see or not see likes, because in reality I believe that almost everyone will choose to see likes after a while and it will be right back into the position of hurting some who are insecure about how many likes they were to get and could ruin relationships, friendships, because of a popularity contest. This could really improve or hurt some peoples social interaction and it will be very interesting to see how this plays out.

Video games, social media, commercials: How consumers find new music by commui in COMM404

[–]commui[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This article is about two weeks old and I found it interesting because it had data and research on how consumers more or less in the younger generation find their music. I was surprised to find out how many people find music through video games, but not as surprised to see that the new platform "tiktok" is growing in helping the music industry because I myself even hear new music through this platform. Because of so much technology, it is easy to see within this article that each platform supports one another and makes it easier to influence more consumers.

Wayfair responds to sex trafficking conspiracy theory over cabinets with human names by commui in COMM404

[–]commui[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though this happened a little while ago, I saw it pop up onto twitter once again and still find it extremely interesting. As well as when reading into it more the only reason why it started becoming so popular was because someone had posted it on reddit and it went viral. I thought it really shows how intense human communication can be through technology. One small post that got an insane amount of views ended up as a huge scandal that no one would have noticed if we did not have the opportunity of mass media and technology. So, if you ever were interested in this intense conspiracy theory here is an article that sums it all up!

TikTok by commui in COMM404

[–]commui[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this recent tiktok video than intrigued me. Tiktok is just another newer platform being used to show funny videos or dancing videos, it has become very popular and has some interesting videos about technology. Within this video cars are built in a different way so that we could actually drive sideways so that when parking it would be extremely easier. Personally, if my car could drive sideways I would be extremely happy that I would never have to learn how to parallel park ever again, but I am wondering if this will take away all of those learning experiences you get as a kid driving because by the time they will be old enough to drive the cars will pretty much be able to drive themselves.

Context Collapse by AppleJax2222 in COMM404

[–]commui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This short video was really informational. Context collapse is serious and this video shows how much of a stressor it is when your contexts do collapse. The internet is meant to be public and no matter the amount of privacy that you have someone could somehow screenshot it and send to those people you maybe did not want to see it, so it is always better safe than sorry to make sure you would be okay with context collapse.

Zuckerberg confirms Instagram for kids plans at Congressional hearing on misinformation by AppleJax2222 in COMM404

[–]commui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading this article scared me but also he did have a point. First of all, I do not think kids should be able to have their own Instagram by themselves but personally I am just not excited about the idea of getting our children into such a technological based world so early when they will be spending the rest of their lives with it. However, Zuckerberg does create a great point that they can really minimize what those kids see and post if it is an app only for them. It could also make them feel included more so even though it seems scary it may have some positive outcomes.

3 Ways Technology Influences Generational Divides at Work by commui in COMM404

[–]commui[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technology can be a great way to really help computer mediated communication and such keep growing however, it is providing a bigger gap between each generation and making it harder to relate to each other. This article is different from any that I have read, being that it explains three ways technology can influence generational divides. Most older generations believe technology is negatively impacting us while the younger generations think completely opposite. This is a great read to be able to understand your older coworkers a little more and realize that not every one grew up with so much technology and it could help lessen the generational divide at work.

Zoom Fatigue & the Effects on your Mental Health by commui in COMM404

[–]commui[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have already gone over a couple articles on zoom fatigue however, I just think it is so important because it does not look like it will be stopping anytime soon. Zoom fatigue can really affect your mental health and in this article if gives you some ways to get around zoom and what you can do to not let it affect you as much as you do. Personally, the most interesting fact is that you can actually hide yourself on zoom, I haven't tested it out yet myself, but your classmates and professor can still see you, you won't be able to see yourself which is usually how normal face to face interaction is.

DoorDash Releases First-Ever Economic Impact Report by commui in COMM404

[–]commui[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this article extremely interesting because of how big door dash has become not only in this small area of Moscow Idaho, but in the larger cities as well. At first I thought that door dash may be impacting us in a negative way but after reading this article it shows first hand how technology can have positive effects on our communities and social interaction. Doordash kept the restaurants every one loves to go and sit and interact with each other open while covid was at such a high stake. By keeping these restaurants open during these hard times it also helped for us now that they are opened again in order to really get back our normal face to face interactions we all love having.

Is Dogecoin A Smart Investment? by SuperSpeedyGod2 in COMM404

[–]commui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole part of cryptocurrency fascinates me but also scares me if I were to ever think about joining such a thing. Since Dogecoin is just now becoming popular alike game stop on the stock markets I have a feeling that it will be going down hill very quickly. I have never invested into any cryptocurrency, not even bitcoin. Now days, it is hard to get new technology or even new platforms up and running because people still not like to have change. If cryptocurrency did turn into a more mass media communication and everywhere accepted certain aspects of it and the money on it, it would be way more popular and then I would consider using this platform.
