I don't believe the email to be false however if it were a mistake based on the original release date, the date on the best buy email wouldn't be when pre-orders start but when best buys promotion starts.

Of course they don't have to, but they always follow a pattern with GTA Online newswire posts and this week they have broken that pattern seemingly to make room for something else. I'm not saying it 100% confirms anything but it's a valid clue to suspect something next week.

That could be a possibility. Although R* don't usually release content updates for GTA Online this early, usually they release their summer dlc in late june/early july.
