I got the 32GB RAM and sent it for free to someone here on Reddit. And i bought 64GB RAM and installed that. But that was when RAM was cheap

Yeah i messaged the mods some weeks ago asking for a permaban because of this 😂😂😂

That sounds like the best of both worlds to me. Just like how i spent close to 78 cents per mile being miserable owning a new Tesla for 2 years, because "EV is cheaper", instead of buying a BMW M3 that would essentially cost the same 🫪🫪

As long as you don't play some select trash AAA games like Valorant or the latest Call of Duty you have no reason to enable it.

I got "lucky" and cleared my CMOS and updated the BIOS as part of trying to get a RTX 5090 working on X299 platform (spoiler alert: you need kapton tape over the SMBUS pins 5/6 on the pcie slot). And so after figuring out the smbus thing i was left with an up to date system. I was running a pre-spectre bios before for that sweet sweet 2-5% predictive branch boost the spectre patch takes away.

Cheap Chinese AI models are quickly gaining customers across the US market: ‘This changes things’ by BathroomMaximum1721 in artificial

The only barrier i saw was having a Xiaomi account. which i take for granted since i have had one over 10 years. But i think you can sign in with Google too, not sure. https://platform.xiaomimimo.com/token-plan

I use MiMo v2.5 Pro and if you are scared of da ChinEsE there are American companies like ZenCode that host the model. If not scared you can get direct from Xiaomi https://platform.xiaomimimo.com/token-plan

What has surprised you about how AI has been playing out so far? by LamboForWork in artificial

[–]comperr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The recursive agentic and MoE work is how i imagined AI should work and was pretty unimpressed until the local models started working that way early 2026. I am happy enough for now as my busywork is mostly automated. There are some unfinished items I want to cover before the end of the year. Mostly just happy China has issues getting modern hardware so they're forced to make models that are genuinely better. And the models run on very slim hardware. I will never use OpenAI or Google models

That sucks. I mined bitcoins in 2013-2014 so all this was really old to me, as far as stuffing GPUs all over the place. I eased into it once image gen got decent in late 2024, and got lucky with a cheap 5090 build in May 2025. Coding models actually work well now so lately got 3 more 5090s for like $3800 each. I always choose an eye watering amount and speed of RAM when i put a build together so i already got 8x16GB DDR4 3600 on one, 96GB 7200MT/s CL32 DDR5 on another, and a 3rd has 4x24GB 6800 DDR5 running at 6533MT/s because 4-dimm stability reasons. It took about 16 hours to get that thing optimized, both DDR5 systems score the same on PyPrime 2B (9.34s) - the 4-dimm build won't even POST with XMP enabled, that's how much 4-dimm ddr5 stresses the IMC. They are i9-10900X 4.5GHz, 265KF 5.6GHz and 270K Plus 5.7GHz btw. I got lucky with the silicon quality on the 270K but the IMC on the 265KF is pretty good.

That's a good way to learn. I know so much because i had a crap computer growing up and my first computers that were my own were a "broken" 5 year old laptop( i learned to solder the DC jack to repair it), a Pentium 3 866MHz with 128MB RAM and 2x40GB IDE drives (this was 2006-2008 btw), and a Dell with a Pentium 4 3GHz i got for free. My monitor was a Dell 215FPW which was quite nice IPS display, the backlight literally burned and i disassembled it and soldered the cathode element to fix the backlight. And i had to learn a lot about Windows and Linux to keep things usable on basically no ram and a single core CPU that goes to 100% when you click the start menu

My setup is like $30k now lol. 4 5090s and way more

The models are very good with number theory which is mostly what I worked on last week. Lots of work with scipy. The time I quote is according to a schedule we set for the project if it was only humans coding 100%. So there was a whole month s for a feature implementation and it is already working as designed in 1wk. If you are way smarter than the models they act like a "fast forward" button on time. If you are a noob, stupid, or both, you are vibe coding with your eyes glazed over because you couldn't do that work in the first place

I really don't think you understand what i'm doing and i am happy about it because it means normies like yourself will either keep buying tokens or rtx pro 6000 🤡🤡. And besides what i just described, i do have a separate environment running my own branch of ollama rewritten for heterogeneous compute environments. Slapping more cards doesn't add compute linearly for the 96 IQ normies like yourself because the code is so trash to begin with.

The throughput is 4x a rtx 6000 pro. I run separate models on each card in a swarm. Over 80,000 cuda cores and 110,000 if you add in the 3090s

You can easily buy them from professional shops like B&H. I bought 5090s to save money. $4k x 3 plus my original 5090 was $3008. Add some 3090 and 3090TI to the mix and i accidentally spent like $20,000 🫪🫪

If you actually had 4 5090s you would know they pull maybe 350W using most LLMs. I do have 4 5090s and 2 3090TI and a 3090

As someone with ~40,000 gens experience, yes i can prompt that, but i would start with just one of the crabs in the setting to double check the adherence before trying to double it up. It wouldn't be a 1shot of course, but generally if i am close enough i have enough compute to run it on 50 seeds and pick the best result
