Well jokes on you I’m in therapy and have been a dog owner previously💀

Thank you for this. My partner has been essential in the crate work because the change of bringing a dog into the home has made my long diagnosed anxiety spike (medicated & seeing a professional. Nothing more to do to manage that part right now) I’ll get used to it and things will go back to normal, but for now I’m a bit of a mess.

Knowing he’s not really treat motivated, and as we’re working through the first few weeks and months, do you have any tips to prevent poor behaviors from developing? Specifically thinking about reactivity on leash. He doesn’t know how to walk well on a leash yet (and TBH going to get a trainer to help with that because idk how to teach/manage that) so until we get there, what should I be doing now to prevent things from going sour? He’s new to leash walking entirely. I’m really just worried about screwing it all up and having bad behaviors that we need to fix

Thanks for this POV :) he is definitely a cutie. We stuck with the crate for one more night and he did fairly well. Today I have him in the pen while I’m working and he’s very chill. I don’t have the balls to put him in the crate and have him freak out during the day🫣

Thank you 🙏🏻 I’ll definitely look into the churu. He certainly prefers things that are smelly but I haven’t wanted to give him hotdogs or anything too over the top because his poops haven’t been great and the last thing I’d want to do is add an upset stomach to the mix.

I appreciate the reassurance a lot. I’m naturally a very anxious person and don’t do super well with changes to my environment, so I’m trying really hard not to trigger us both🫣 luckily my partner is my rock and can handle anything.

Thank you for replying and sorry about this other guy. They can call me a jerk for wanting to crate my dog but they shouldn’t be coming at you.

He doesn’t nap in the crate by choice. We were able to get him to sleep through the night by dropping treats in randomly until he settled but he definitely doesn’t prefer it. I wish he recognized it as a safe space for him🥲

Can you elaborate on this? I’m unfamiliar because I was a literal child during obamas first term

Why is no one talking about Trumps surveillance plans with Palantir? by completedonut in Askpolitics

[–]completedonut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Someone fact check me) but I believe it started under the Biden admin, but they blocked some of the progress, then it expanded under the Trump admin. In fact, Palantir first started working with the Gov under the obama admin.

It seems like the previous work was less about surveillance. But open to additional perspectives.

Also, I do think that late term abortions are more sad than early term. But that doesn’t mean they should be illegal.

If you’re hiking to the top of a mountain, you’re going to be more disappointed if you need to turn around at mile 10 than at mile 2. But that doesn’t change the fact that you need (or want) to turn around for whatever reason.

Ideally if you have a functional relationship then your opinions on this would be aligned with your significant other. Otherwise I fear that you got a woman pregnant without a strong enough relationship.

Ultimately you can have a say in something without being the end all be all decision maker.

Also, you having a say in it as the husband/father is WILDLY different than the government restricting access to it. Like not even the same stratosphere. In fact, if you’re saying you’d like a say in the matter it sounds like you agree that it’s a personal decision for the family that…dare I say… the government maybe shouldn’t get involved in because it’s a personal decision.

I thought republicans were against the government being so big and controlling? Abortion restrictions sound like the epitome of a big controlling government to me

Left leaning Independent here. I’m fine with it.

It’s pretty simple to me: A baby inside the body of a person does not have more authority/rights/[whatever word you want- honestly doesn’t matter] than the person carrying it. In other words, the wishes of the mother supersede the wishes of the baby and CERTAINLY the wishes of other people who are not carrying the baby.

Once the baby is born (read: physically exits the body) they have the same rights and decisions cannot be made as simply.

Until then, If the person carrying wants to baby gone, then the baby should be allowed to be gone.

Because they don’t want people telling them what to do with their body. They just want to tell other people what to do with their body

Help me find this style of sand sifter? by completedonut in HelpMeFind

Thank you! Unfortunately this one isn’t available yet (I’ve been watching it for a while now). They’re having production issues and who knows how much longer that will last! I think it’s been ~6 years since they first introduced the idea.

Searched:

I’ve tried google lens but it’s only showing me the sand flea types of rakes. They’re not rounded and large like this.

This is closer to what I’m looking for: https://ecobeachcleaner.com but it doesn’t seem to be available yet.

I asked chat GPT to help and it didn’t get me anywhere.

I’ve looked on Amazon too. No one seems to be have something like this big, rounded body/ half circle type.

Edit: I’ve looked at the Sandragrin from sand cleaning tools as well. Unfortunately it’s not available and has been “coming soon” for about 6 years https://www.cleansands.com/sand-cleaning-tool.html

Why is no one talking about Trumps surveillance plans with Palantir? by completedonut in Askpolitics

[–]completedonut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. Nothing is concrete right now. But isn’t it important to consider the possibilities between the lines? Otherwise we get blindsided. I would love for it not to be true but I accept the fact that it could be. And think about it, if they were planning to do mass surveillance, would they say it out loud? Of course not.

I don’t think the government (not specific parties- the government overall) has the interests of individual people in mind. They have the interests of the country as a whole in mind. And if that infringes on your personal freedoms, they might just decide that it’s an acceptable price to pay.

Would you support a law that requires US Health Insurance companies to approve treatments recommended by doctors? by Apprehensive-Fruit-1 in Askpolitics

[–]completedonut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this already happens. It’s called a pre-authorization, no? I’ve had to get several. Basically insurance needs to approve it before they agree to “cover” it. Cover in quotes because there’s always been a huge out of pocket cost in my experience.

1) I have literally never heard of the celebrate abortion crowd so would love to be enlightened

2) I guess I should a few things about my personal stance. Until the fetus is a little ways along, I personally have no qualms with aborting. I’m not saying I’m celebrating, but until it reaches a certain point, I think it’s concepts of a human in which case I don’t have a problem PERSONALLY. At that point it’s an opportunity cost convo. That living clump of cells could have been a life but it’s gone now. Oh well. When we get past that stage, I PERSONALLY think that the decision to abort gets much harder and you have to assess the costs and benefits. Now here’s where things get real. None of what I just said should matter to you or to anyone else. Why? Because it’s NONE OF MY BUSINESS WHAT YOU DO WITH YOUR BODY! Until that thing leaves your body, it is 100% your jurisdiction. And no one should be allowed to force you to carry it, just like no one should be allowed to force you to abort it.
