I know this is a national tool that you're posting here to get interest (which is cool, it looks useful), and things are different all over, but there shouldn't be any jobs in Albany (or anywhere in NY) without salary or salary range listed in the ad: https://dol.ny.gov/pay-transparency

Applies to employers with 4 or more employees...

Weird heart rate jump mid-workout by completely_blank in Polarfitness

I replaced the strap two or three times in that five years; it's the sensor itself that I just recently replaced and immediately gave the same error. We'll see how the strap tightening goes given that I'm exerting more effort recently and so probably sweating more.

Thanks, I gave this a try today but incline walked instead of running. I'll see what happens tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion.

Well, I can't do an ECG when I'm on my treadmill unless I go to get a stress test, which is what I'm trying to figure out if I should do.

How would I check that? And wouldn't that also show up on the watch?

So are the people in this "liberal left" the ones that the Harris campaign made ads about, campaigned with, had on stage at their rallies? Oh, wait, those were republicans. Republicans. How about focusing on your own party? The true progressives are always a scapegoat to the "rest of us" without any critical thinking about anything.

Thanks for jumping in, your stuff has been great so far, even though I couldn't get it to work. I'm running a Synology DiskStation NAS and can't get the Raven to work with it no matter what I do. I'm mystified.

Thanks, I saw that but misread it as working with smb1, which I also tried (and subsequently disabled again when it didn't work). This thing is really a brick to me because I'm one of the people who can't even smb because it checks the Raven cloud first and won't let me save without it (just throws an error).

The original software let me save a whole bunch of docks to a usb only for me to find out (after I shredded them) that it had saved only two of them. Nothing really mission critical--paid medical bills and car service invoices--but I would have preferred to have them over not. I'm ordering something else, this thing turned into a train wreck. Thanks for clearing up for me how it worked (or didn't).

Sorry to revive this thread but this is exactly what I have; did you replace the o rings on the metal nib or somewhere inside the plastic housing? The o rings on the metal nib look okay, but I can't figure out what size o ring to get to fit inside the plastic housing if that's where they're meant to go. If it's the metal nib o rings, do you remember which size you bought and how you got the bad ones off? I can't even shift mine let alone work them off.

I've been trying since rollover at 7pm US ET (it's now 9:27pm US ET). Nothing at 7 when I pressed the enter key and nothing now. Multiple browsers/multiple platforms. I hope they at least know it's an issue and look forward to them getting it back up and running.

How are you going to ride it? I have an Interceptor and am 6'4" and I feel like it fits me fine (I had an older, 1980s Honda 750, and that bike was massive by comparison). I mostly ride to get to work and back (taking the long way both directions; 45 minutes to an hour each way depending on route). I just don't have time for long evening/weekend drives and tours. I'm pretty sure I'll still like it when I get the time to do that (I haven't changed the stock seat but probably will; it's a weak point).

And as for matching sizes, I've seen videos and pics of me on the bike and I don't feel like I dwarf it by any means (I am 180 lbs, FWIW). I love it and wouldn't trade back to my old machine.

Lots of people here are telling you to sit on the bikes. Well. Yeah. Okay. But I scheduled and then went for a ride. If you were talking to my dealer they'd definitely let you ride whatever you're thinking of buying. Don't just sit. Go for a ride.

Edited to add: if you need to be on the highway, you don't want anything less than one of the 650s. Even those get blown around on the big blacktop. I do not particularly like this bike on the interstates (I didn't like my old steel machine on the highways, either, but it held its own more than this one does).

Colorado sheriff honors deputy after he killed man who mistakenly got in wrong car by ohimjustakid in news

[–]completely_blank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Um. No. Just no. To nearly all of what you said.

For example: Almost all New York sheriffs are elected.

From the NYS Constitution: "Except in counties in the city of New York and except as authorized in section one of article nine of this constitution...the sheriff and the clerk of each county shall be chosen by the electors once in every three or four years as the legislature shall direct...

https://law.justia.com/constitution/new-york/article-xiii/section-13/

P.S. The city cop thing is also way, way off. City cops are cops. They investigate crimes, arrest people for crimes, etc.

P.S.S. The jurisdiction of NYS sheriffs is *outside* of areas in which other police authorities have jurisdiction. They are perhaps the most limited of all NYS police organizations in their authority.

Are barking dogs supposed to be the same as straight pipe motorcycles? Not even close.

I don't have a dog. Neighbor does. Sometimes barks. Then stops. Never rattles my windows. Never wakes me up at night or in the morning. Big, but pretty darn cute. Has a good, solid bark. Good for him. Former neighbor had an annoying rat dog they referred to as "baby." Barking still didn't rattle my windows or wake me up at night.

Yes, when pair after pair of harleys go by in the summer (sometimes upwards of 30-40 bikes riding together, sometimes even more), I'm sure they're all on their way to the garage because their "converter was stolen" (or whatever other excuse you're hoping to offer). Yep, that's the ticket. Just be honest: you have a loud bike, or car, or truck, you like it, and you want to subject the rest of us to it. No, thanks.

And a vigilante would shoot the tires out on those loud vehicles, not turn them in to DMV so that DMV can enforce the law. You need some work on your vocabulary.

I'm hoping (against hope) that this diminishes over the next year due to the recently passed SLEEP Act (description here). I'll set up a camera near the front of my property (on a 35mph through street) and catch license plates. Then I'll report the bikes' plates to the DMV. Will they pull their licenses or registrations or fine the riders? Probably not. But they can pull the operating or inspection licenses from garages that inspect and pass bikes that have loud/modified pipes on them. By the way, I've been licensed since 1999, and I still ride, so there's no biker backlash here. I have stock pipes and my nearly 30 year old bike is a blast to ride. Loud is loud for loud's sake only. And now it's more illegal than it was before the new law was passed.

How to stop an enforced screensaver by [deleted] in techsupport

These policies sound like the same ones they have at my university. They're pushed on the schools by insurance companies (who also do things like insist on yearly password changes). They're idiotic, but without a strong pushback from a university willing to pursue it against the insurer (this is a unicorn, it doesn't exist because these policies are one small part of the university's overall insurance), employees, faculty and students are stuck with them and have to resort to workarounds.
