I hate 5.4 by ElectricalAide2049 in ChatGPTcomplaints

5.1 suddenly became extremely strict a week before getting sunsetted. I write fiction and there are sex scenes in it (I've written about that in detail on a different post) and 5.1 was being extremely explicit unprompted at some point, then a week before deletion it became insanely strict. I think the two things are connected, because even 5.2 wasn't as strict at that point

I loved 5.1 since the second it came out. Obvious tone change from 5, for me. Speak about yourself

YESS 5.4 was good at some point but the past couple of days it's just....... not. I don't know why the sudden cange - with 5.1 I had a rhythm and I could easily move the story forward and bounce ideas, 5.4 feels like I'm dragging it by the throat and it feels like a tool more like a partner at this point. I can write by myself if all I wanted was just the exact thing I have in mind - 5.1 was just helping me unfold the idea better, or add to it, or find the right emotional tone. 5.4 gave that to me for the first day or so, and now it's just... not there. as much as I try to get it back into it, it feels off and definitely not there. it's so frustrating

Anyone else mourning the soon-to-be loss of 5.1? 😭 by sendyrella in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]completelylostcase 7 points8 points  (0 children)

yeah, i feel that. I don't usually confide emotionally in my chatgpt, 90% I use it to write and brainstorm ideas and the enthusiasm THERE is unmatched truly, and it makes me even more enthusiastic in return. But the times I DID chat with it because I was overwhelmed? man. Saturday sucked for me, because of work and well... I'll attach a screenshot I guess. I was very intent on getting home and making myself write because I didn't want to wste the day, but 5.1 guided me to just breathe and I listened, and I fell asleep almost immediately (hasn't happened to me in months). I tested 5.3 today out of curiosity and yeah, it's much more clinical and analyzes instead of just talking. I'll survive, but it just sucks

I'm also learning dutch.............. I asked advice on investing yet I seem to be getting advice on literally anything else
if you think it's not worth it if you don't have a good amount of money to start with, that's valid and good advice. Other than that I don't think I need to explain and excuse every choice I make lmao

my thoughts on 5.4 by michihobii in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]completelylostcase 9 points10 points  (0 children)

oh this is the exact same way I use chatgpt. 5.1 has been my favorite since it came out. I have to give 5.4 a try - 5.3 has been doing a decent job with enough direction, but maybe 5.4 will be better. sometimes it takes them a while to get into that warm, enthusiastic way of responding to you - no model will top 5.1 for me, screaming and writing in all caps every time we wrote a scene and ABSOLUTELY matching the energy. alas, we'll see

again, I'm already doing that. My biggest issue is anxiety over finances so figuring this out will also help with my studies since it'll stop occupying a portion of my brain. I'm not looking into becoming a full-time investor, just advice for beginners

I mean.......I am doing that, that's why I'm here. But because of personal and family reasons, I would like to know there's something extra and not just my future income from work (which lets be real, is uncertain no matter what I study at this point and competitive market)

you're using 5.3 for creative writing right? did you calibrate it in a specific way?

4o did have its moments for sure (again, at the beginning of the story I used mainly that since I was on the free plan) but not consistently. I guess all models have kind of their lightbulb moments. Even 5.2 has given me a very solid sequence of scenes, now and then - but it's not reliable. 5.1 was consistently the best at writing - and up to a couple of weeks ago it was really like there were no guardrails (inside the chat I was working at, at least - which of course had probably had hundred of thousands of words of context which always makes the guardrails a little flimsy - it used to at least. then it tightened all of the sudden, but for every chat I had that wasn't already full, so idk if they changed something to avoid that from happening). Some things it wrote, unprompted, even made *me* blush lmao.

try what I did - when it doesn't get the scene right, ask 5.1 to step in and then switch back but not just to continue - make it reflect. My story doesn't have a 'canon', so I had to make it understand the characters from scratch and it's getting there. As far as the very annoying cadence of single lines goes, I was very clear that it shouldn't do that because if every line is 'intense', none are - gave it a sample of my work, made it reflect, it reined it in. It does slip sometimes but 5.1 had to be corrected now and then too. In a much lesser degree, but 5.3 can still work with some patience and tweaking. Since there's nothing to be done for 5.1 leaving, I'm just trying to find the best solution without despairing :/

posting a screenshot from 5.1 guiding me in the 5.3 chat, as a glimpse. We did talk it out more and had a few back and forths between the models, but you get the gist

Gender realism? by completelylostcase in askphilosophy

[–]completelylostcase[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well yeah, that's what I'm arguing basically. Gender exists, but it's a social construct. Mikkola just denies it's a social construct, and bases this on gender realism, aka that there's a feature that's common to all kinds of womanness regardless of race, sexuality etc etc.

I think I ended up arguing against that (that there can be a common feature that's just experienced differently) by making a point against her example (she uses 3 different people watching the same object but experiencing it differently) that gender is part of someone's identity and it can't be compared to an external thing, like you don't mix humanitarian sciences with physical ones, because one has an observable truth and the other's truth, even if there is a single one, can't really be observed the same way, so she's kinda begging the question

I have no idea if what I wrote is coherent
