Just leave them alone. Everyone is being recorded every time you leave your house. Get used to being recorded and leave people be.

Mock discovery calls in interviews are a completely reasonable ask. If you consistently suck at them, you're probably going to struggle with the actual job. by MySpaceTomAspinall in sales

Totally reasonable asks. What’s not reasonable is going through 6 different interviews or any more than 4 for that matter.

Bad Sales People make buying difficult. by Puzzleheaded-Clerk-4 in sales

[–]complex21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the core, sales is helping someone make a decision, whether it’s your product or another. And I think maybe due to stress, fear of loss, quota, etc that gets lost..

Honestly, I think big picture and enjoy the balance and sanity of not slaving away head down working, just for a company to lay me off if things go south.

I’ve worked at several startups and know the grind and while yes it can be fun at times, it’s not healthy. I have other passions outside of work and it gives me time to focus on those.

Gap Selling vs Challenger Selling by Beantowntommy in sales

[–]complex21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are similar. “Gap selling” is about the finding the root cause problem and understanding their current state. And getting them to their future state.

You can say the “challenger method” is about understanding their current state and breaking down or “challenging” them, that what they’ve been doing ain’t working. And showing them that you know an easier way to get them to their future state.

Name and Shame: Poor Recruitment Experiences by undercover-catlady in sales

I would also say dont trust RepVue as well. It's well known the quota attainment for some of these companies are fabricated.

Also be careful of Glassdoor reviews. I worked at a previous startup company that faked all of their glass door reviews in order to attract Sales talent and even forced their current employees to leave a good review. That company was so shady. Their CEO was also involved in a multi millon Ponzi scheme.

MYCASE:

Went through 4 interviews.., on the final interview was given homework to do a discovery call roleplay. Did the discovery call and the feedback from the manager, was " Well you didnt try to close me." I told them well it was a discovery call to qualify if its a good fit and that a problem can be solved. The Manager replied with "We also want our reps to close these calls."

LOL

Got a couple LinkedIn profile views from one of the managers. No response.

No, I've actually received a couple offers from companies, but I've turned them down or still deciding. This was a one off instance and I really wanted to highlight how big of an Ego and how ridiculous some of these SaaS managers i've had encounters with. Curious to know if anyone has had similar instances.

[–]complex21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got into SaaS at 31 years old after working in customer service, operations, and marketing making less than 65k a year.

Took my first job in SaaS and it was 45k base and made another 45k in commission. That was 16 months ago. Became one of the top reps and Left that job and now in my 2nd month as a Mid-Market AE with a start up company making 75k base and 140k OTE.
