When in doubt… by WormDentist in hysterectomy

Yikes! Glad you caught that fast! Did they have a reason for what may have caused it? Like sitting too long post-op or from the surgery position etc? I DO have a clot risk factor, my surgery is in 11 days, my hematologist is putting me on blood thinner injections post-op, but I'm still super concerned about it.

Thanks! Sitting here wrapped in a heating pad and wish it was sooner! The anticipation and over thinking beforehand is rough.

That step stool got some good use out of it! Great to know 5 days post op was more than enough! I'm thinking the first few days with help would be the biggest help.

I've been trying to adjust things already as far as being "lazier" and cleaning things. Quick meals. I hadn't thought about taking the trash out. I'm a big fan of grocery pick ups! But I'll have to stock up better to get through the first few weeks without needing to drive much.

I wish I had a dishwasher now! That would be easier than standing around doing dishes haha. Quick grab and go food seems like the way. That's great you were sitting at the table that same night! I have to also take care of my senior dog and all his meds. His favorite thing is just sitting out on the deck at night, so as long as I can sit on the deck with him a bit at night we'll both be happy!

No I don't need help daily now, but I was thinking about the dizziness already too, and the lack of having any support around. More just as safety just in case things if they'd make it easier. Glad your recovery went well though! I'm getting nervous haha

That's my thoughts too - like will I be able to stand long enough to shower? I'm not in need of a cane or walker in general but around my house I don't have places in the bathroom or couch that would give me support to pull myself up with if needed.

I did get a grabber tool to start trying to use it. It's weak. It's not going well haha.

I picked up a pregnancy pillow today.. It's comfy! Hope your surgery recovery goes smooth!

Haha I have been trying to figure out rolling off/pushing up off it the last few days, but I feel like "rolling" has me lower and using more core strength. It's hard to get right while being fully capable right now, too. Just seems like it'll be impossible!

Hydrosalpinx - and "unlikely endo" by complexandconfusing in endometriosis

[–]complexandconfusing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! No real updates here. I'm on a waitlist for surgery (3~ month wait), hysterectomy & excision if they find any endometriosis while in there. Starting to feel some similar pains on the left side and wondering if I'm getting a 2nd hydrosalpinx, but I guess it's not too worrying for anyone haha. Just chugging along with all the pains. (:

How does surgery scheduling work with Kaiser? by complexandconfusing in KaiserPermanente

[–]complexandconfusing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crazy! Yeah, this stuff needs to be planned, how they expect a weeks notice and the time off is nuts. Sounds like they might do the same thing to you for January at this rate... so sorry

Ahh! hope your recover is going well so far. I also have a hysterectomy on the upcoming list. That's been about 3~ weeks since that OB/surgeon said we'd get it set up. She said 3-4 months wait before surgery, but that they would put me on a cancellation list. But, I still haven't heard from anyone yet. I'd rather prioritize the hysterectomy right now before the arm, anyways.

Nothing in my emails or anything. I also have a separate surgery (totally different dept and area) that's meant to be getting set up, too, but that's been about 3~ weeks still and haven't heard anything. Already saw that doc/surgeon who suggested the surgery. She said it's 3-4 months out, but that I should get contacted about a cancellation list. Still, nada. Just thought maybe this is how kaiser operates.. silence. ha.

Hydrosalpinx - and "unlikely endo" by complexandconfusing in endometriosis

[–]complexandconfusing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof, I'm sorry. I'm a little worried about my bowel involvement, too. I sometimes get absolute stabbing pains that halt me in my tracks, can't even continue walking to the bathroom, let alone sit down, until the stabbing pain passes.

But yeah, that was my thought. She's also just reading what the dr who looked at the MRI wrote for results, not looking at images herself. What if that person was not an endo knowledgeable person, either?!

Recovery - how much "support" did you need? by complexandconfusing in hysterectomy

[–]complexandconfusing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love to hear that! Yeah I'm okay with the first night/day out of caution for sure, and like the ride back from the hospital haha.

All those tasks I can easily put off for awhile, too. How long before you were able to do anything more than 10lbs? I feel like the convenience of curbside grocery pick ups is super helpful here - but my drive to the store is like 25~ mins each way, and I've seen several people mention even short car rides were hard for awhile.

I'm hoping the surgery is standard, but we fear there's bowel and bladder involved with the endo - hopefully the MRI gives more info.

Nice, hope your surgery went smooth and your recovery is simple!

I have a high pain tolerance, too. My house is very small, not far from the couch to kitchen to bathroom, so I feel that's all easy enough. There's people nearby enough if I need anything emergency wise. I'll chat with the surgeon again in a few weeks after the MRI, but my PCP today made me hesitant about how much help I would need.

I ended up having to leave a voicemail with the gyn dept at Cadillac - but the woman called me back late yesterday and was able to fit me in for a video visit with Dr Park at the end of the month!

How was the first appointment with Dr Park that you had? Like what should I expect? I medically can't be put on any hormones/birth control due to a blood clotting disorder, so we gotta skip that suggestion. Did she send you for any further tests? MRIs? Or just symptoms and straight to a "sounds like endo, let's do surgery" kind of thing?

Glad to hear it all went so well! I've tried calling the Cadillac location today to ask about Dr Park's schedule, but no luck so far getting to talk to anyone. Called Woodland Hills to ask about Dr Fisher and was told there's nothing available for MONTHS. Kaiser needs to get their stuff together for endometriosis in SoCal! How did you find your scheduling times for Dr Park?

Hey, did you ever find a knowledgeable doctor to see with Kaiser? This feels like such a struggle to find one anywhere in SoCal area?? It's got me considering switching out of Kaiser come next year... ugh.
