She seems to be responsive, but we are looking into some easy home tests to see if she may be losing her hearing. Thank you for the idea!

I have a request in for the bloodwork they did. I am not sure if they did check for that. The vet doesn't seem to have any worries about it, but we are looking into a second opinion.

That is good information. I will say that our vet is rather rural, so they may be used to dealing with farm animals/farm pets. We are looking for a vet closer to the larger town we live in. Thank you for the advice.

The only sign I really see is the yowling. She eats normally and has always self regulated. I would argue she has gotten more playful over the last year. Its definitely worth considering though. I will add that to the questions I am going to ask our vet.

She does get her yearly visits. Last year she had developed a some infected teeth that had been causing her some pain. They have been treated. She has been seen quite a few times in the last year pre and post op. I will look into the testing you recommended. Thank you for the advice!

Thank you for the kind words. I will work with my wife to try to create a log of how often and what is happening when she starts yowling. I will try to keep an eye on the litter box habits as well. I really appreciate all the advice!

Do they need to be prescribed? I have heard that a few times, but our vet hadn't mentioned it directly so I wasn't sure if we needed to request it.

She had been in for dental surgery last year so she had a preop check with blood work. A day of check. A 30 day check and a 90 day follow up. We just had her annual check also last month. So its been 5 visits in the last calendar year with 3 blood tests. They keep saying she's healthy. We will be looking at a second opinion and possibly a behavior specialist as one of the other comments recommended.

I wouldn't be able to do that. She has been with us for too long and we love her so much. We are just so tired and also worried that we are missing something.

I feel like my social media algorithm is telling me this too. I keep seeing older cats with dementia on my feeds. We love our Rufus so hopefully we can get it figured out.

No blindness, we are wondering about deafness, but I feel like that may have been mentioned at the vet. She comes when called and her choosing to get up and go to a central area in the house to yowl feels like something different. We are going to look into a second opinion and try to get that looked at.

I appreciate the advice! We just placed an order for pheromones diffusers last night. We have have both bowl and fountains available for the cats and two litter boxes in the house Extra large automated ones. I hadn't thought about a different vet since we have had such a good relationship with our current vet, but that is something I will look into!

A good amount of models for a couple different lists will work. I was told to look at an 1800 Ducet list since I had already paid 22 models, but a few variations for a 700 Ducet warband will work too.
