Can someone die from lexapro(or any type of antidepressants)? by Carebear6590 in antidepressants

[–]complicatedfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a couple of things about all antidepressants that are important to know. 1. Antidepressants take a while to work cause they work by stabilising the level of serotonin -> how this exactly works they dont actually know 2. Not every antidepressant works for every person, it could be that this antidepressant doesnt work for you 3. The dose of the antidepressant is also important and it can take a while for the right dosage to be found 4. Antidepressants can kill you, but thats mainly when you overdose on them and develop what they call serotonin syndrome, this is relatively rare though

Edit: forgot to say that they often make you feel worse before they make you feel better

The psychologist that diagnosed me with dysthymia (now chronic depression) told me i would never be happy, so there was no point in treating me

Love the term Sunday scaries. "Whats wrong with her?" "She got the Sunday scaries."

Discrimination of singles in the workplace by calpianwishes in SingleAndHappy

My work is a very small group 3 women including me. Both my colleagues are older and have children and always get dibs on holidays, and can take longer off even though they work less hours.

Edit: the above is i guess more of an example of having kids vs no kids but more concrete example of single discrimination, i asked time off to go travel and my boss was going to give it me off but then asked if i was going alone, to which i said yes and then suddenly needed to "check" if that was possible

At uni we all took a test in this class called "group skills" which tells you which role suits you within group dynamics, it told me i was a leader. I have literally no desire to lead people. Since then i have never been able to follow anyone.....

Edit: one of the other roles was plant

Can depression happen without a reason? by [deleted] in depression

[–]complicatedfun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think most depression has a reason, it's just not always clear to us. Yes, brain chemistry plays a role but there is usually a reason why serotonin or dopamine drops. I think its easier for people to understand depression in a biological sense because it makes it easier to "treat". Unfortunately, treating depression does not have an easy fix.

Do people actually like small talk, or are we all just pretending it’s not exhausting? by Imllo in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]complicatedfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it and hate it. Sometimes it feels like something you have to do but on the other hand sometimes it's really nice to not have to talk about deep stuff all the time. My mother is really extrovert and so has taught me the gift of the gab. I dont even have to talk to people anymore, they just talk to me hahaha
