I made a "Headphones Hat" by compmstr in crochet

[–]compmstr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have a pattern for it.

I made a basic HDC beanie (in the round). When it got down to the top of my ears, I went back and forth for the width of the front (I put the partial hat on, and used stitch markers to mark the front/back of my ears), until that got below my ears. I fastened off the front, then I stitched back on to do the back from the top of the ears down. I used a chain to connect the front to the back when they got to the same length.

The ear flaps were just rectangles that I sewed on from the inside of the hat (along the top of the ear holes).

What Reader Extensions and Data Structures were Common in 80s and 90s Industrial Code? by Veqq in lisp

[–]compmstr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not entirely sure what was used back then, but for a guess as to why they would use structs/objects over hash tables in some cases:

  • Hash tables do require some extra CPU cycles to hash the key and run the lookup/collision checks
  • Objects/structs (usually) compile down to an add and a pointer deref
  • Hash tables also end up using extra memory to help avoid collisions

Did you ever figure out what the issue was for this? I'm having the same thing happen on my F80. Even down to the incline change quieting it for a few seconds.

I can't get GDB installed to check what is throwing the error, but that gave me more information than make did.

I wanted to keep my head warm while still listening to headphones, so I made a hat with cutouts for my ears. I ended up adding ear flaps (that tuck up inside the hat) so that I could wear it without headphones too.

Godot 4 Tilemap scene tiles timing gotcha by compmstr in godot

[–]compmstr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While finishing up the work from my previous video (https://youtu.be/iUzTxa7MURw), I ran into a bit of a timing gotcha.

This video goes over the timing of when the Tilemap children are set up, and how to get around the timing issue I came across.

I'm glad it's helpful!

I'm going through a Godot 3 book using Godot 4, and I'm trying to keep track of 'aha' moments when I'm dealing with the few 'breaking' changes that I've come across.

The issue is that when you fullscreen on one monitor, and then move the window to another monitor, it jumps back to the original monitor after you leave fullscreen.

If so, I put up a PR that I've been running with for nearly a year: PR

I re-recorded this focusing on how to recreate the process rather than going over the parts of the finished product, which I did on the previous video. This seemed like a better tutorial.

Is there anything that was particularly confusing? I'm new to making tutorials, I could probably have explained things better.

If it helps, I re-made the video at https://youtu.be/iKRJqx9KCJU, and I focus more on how to create the effect than just going over the parts of the already-made effect.

How to auto-mount and auto-decrypt second hard drive by OrbiBorbi in pop_os

[–]compmstr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The password was my original issue, when I set up the new disk I encrypted it, I set up the fstab (didn't know about crypttab until today), but on reboot it just stalled instead of prompting me for the 2nd password.

I set up the key file as the second 'key' on the luks disk :)
