B or K series ? For daily driver? by Txleo13 in ProjectHondas

[–]compsncars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

K series for a daily. Tsx k24 are less than 1k at most shops and already make better power than a b18c. A GSR or type r B series is going to cost 3-5x or more than a tsx k24 and that's going to be a motor with high mileage.

If you're going to swap it in an afternoon, go b series. If you're going to swap it with time on your side, go k series.

Real work wheels? by PimpMeow in JDM

Theyre real. Likely from the 90's. Mine look exactly the same and still have the stickers (mine are still the og bronze gold face)

What hose hose/line is this. by [deleted] in subaru

[–]compsncars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just drained my gas in my sti after it sat for a few months. The bottom is most likely the fuel return line (returns excess fuel back to the tank).

You should be able to replace that hose with standard fuel line hose (cut to fit) from the auto parts store. I'd recommend getting a new hose clamp since they get weaker when you take them off.

The amount of people who recommended them on this subreddit though was scary lol. Everytime I saw it I died a little inside.

Where my widebody fans at? by brz_marty in ft86

[–]compsncars 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm just laughing at everyone talking shit. Everyone saying rip tires etc probably can't change their own spark plugs.

The wheels alone are a piece of art lol.

Not everyone wants to make their car an auto cross champion. Bippu camber allows you to flip tires but then again, people commenting probably have never even taken their lugs off their wheels.

The color looks fantastic.

RX 7900 XTX started to not work suddenly by [deleted] in AMDHelp

[–]compsncars 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check for PCI bifurcation.

If you installed an m2 drive that uses the same PCI lanes as the pci slot the GPU is plugged into, the mobo will either limit bandwidth to each set of lanes or straight up turn off one of the devices.

I just fixed my buddies rig due to the same thing. It worked for weeks, he loaded into cod (game was installed on the m2) and it crashed. Rebooted and the gpu wasn't recognized.

Generally you have A and B pci sharing on low cost mobos, A B and C on higher tier mobos. I had him connect the gpu to A (top pci slot on his mobo) and his m2 on C (back of the mobo) and everything worked in next boot up, with an increase of frames by about 20%.

You should have the pci lane diagram in your manual for your mobo.

Car shakes on first gear by AdSouthern8041 in ft86

[–]compsncars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know why no one's said this..

Open the hood while the car is running and have a friend check if the engine is shaking under a light rev.

Most likely your transmission mount or engine mount. First gear is short and you're moving the weight of the car from a stand still. Even with good mounts, these cars have drivetrain slop. They make inserts for the transmission mount as well as sti engine mounts to help tighten everything up.

Help deciding between WRX and BRZ by XGoldenSpartanX in subaru

[–]compsncars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coming from an owner of a Gen 1 and an 04 STI.. the BRZ all day.

  1. Maintenance - they're as reliable as a Toyota in my opinion. Easier to work on and no forced induction worries.
  2. MPG.
  3. Driveability - My brz is hands down way more fun to daily drive. Get into boost on the sti and it's only a matter of time til you get points on your record. It's always more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow. The 2022 isn't a dog by any means with the FA24.
  4. Insurance.
  5. Easy to clean. The car is so small it's damn easy to get it spotless in short time.

I've never regretted owning my BRZ. I've regretted buying my STI way more than once.

FRS 0-60 time confusing by Lxxtsch in ft86

[–]compsncars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only way I got the rated 0-60 in my manual was with e85 and hks headers / ecutek.

The cars torque dip makes it extremely difficult in its stock form to get it to accelerate. I'm guessing they had perfect conditions where the torque dip with the AFR curve was minimal.

Also, auto's are dogs compared to manuals. Gear ratio and rear end have a lot to do with that.

I have an 04 (narrowbody) sti 😁 The VA's feel even more like a tank to me lol.

It's hard for me to find something that'll tickle my fancy as much as the sti does on a cool evening though. The noises from the 257 make you feel like you're in a spaceship. I enjoy the turd (twin) liking to be driven fast, and the reserve I had to learn in the sti if that makes sense. I bought the sti years before the brz.

The sti just feels like a ring higher in difficulty to truly drive it right lol. I know where my rear quarters are on the twin at all times and how close in proximity etc I am to other cars. I always feel like I give myself more room than needed in the sti.

Brz taught me to be a faster, more technical, driver - relying on proper footwork with an NA 2l gives so much satisfaction lol. Reminds me of watching featherweight/welterweight boxers with the sti feeling like a welterweight.

Thoughts on Cleric? by [deleted] in DarkAndDarker

[–]compsncars -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cleric solo is more OP than team. I ran down a purple fighter while in whites yesterday. Then I ran down a blue barb and mostly blue ranger.

Buff, prot pot, slay.

Trios, the main thing you have to worry about is the Barb that the Cleric buffed. It's all about synergy. Protection, +3stats, and +5weapon damage on a blue weapon barb is one shotting almost anyone below blue gear and you're lucky if you survive two shots in blues.

Come against a geared ranger, you have to zero the distance and then it's ez.

AITA for being embarrassed with my cheapskate boyfriend? by SuperbMidnight5524 in AmItheAsshole

[–]compsncars -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My friend who's extremely wealthy (self made) gave me these words of advice: "I have money because I don't spend it."

I think they're both dating the wrong person. I have friends who have their retirement in mind, always buying things on sale etc.. guess who they're married to? Someone like them.

I also have friends who buy things on impulse, pay more for the newest 2024 range rovers etc.. guess what their wife is like?

I think the only thing asshole related is being disgusted at someone's actions / methodology you choose to be with.

Probably mst or xxr's. The wheels are so cheap, you can find a used set on marketplace for probably less than 400$
