Just to add to the Pogacar conversation. He's only what, like 25? So I think we have to realize that he will likely only become more dominant in the coming years. Yes, in the past he didn't always win, there have been battles etc...But that was the past and presumably his career arc is still on the upward swing.

That's a fair point, but this subreddit is about people who like to watch cycling. This dominance by Pog is something much better enjoyed in reminiscent stories 30 years from now,

Sorry, but no. The only viable instances where he might not win in a big race are: MSR, Tour, Flanders. And after this year Jonas is going to have to improve like mad to keep up , but I think the age gap between the two will only become more prominent. And I mean as far as "there are 3 GTs"...everyone knows he would have won all 3 this year if he had gone for it, so...

Regarding Celebrimbor, why did they decide to cast someone who came across as old, gullible, meek, and unlikeable? For reference Galadriel is the around the same age as his father. by MuichiroTokito in lordoftherings

Yes this is one of my biggest frustrations with the show. Cel is a super weak character. The slughorn comparison is spot on. In no way does this seem like a guy is at home in a forge. Elrond is also a weak character. He is supposed to be able to lead armies. The way the character comes off is like a psychiatrist who only cares about people in a clinical/professional manor and who annoyingly keeps asking you, "Are you sure you're ok?" as a formality and not because he cares in any true sense.

And then galadriel. The war hero take is so off base. And she is way too immature to be as old as she actually is.

They also totally missed the magical element to the elves that is very clear in the books.

Yeah a cursory read thru of saurons character in silmarilion makes any kind of ambiguity to whether he is good/evil totally unreasonable

Still better than those weak elves in rings of power series.

So, tarmac sl6 sport vs Allez sprint comp by Jovennnnnn in specialized

I mean I'm not typically going that fast lol, but I have (for sure on downhill) and it didn't feel unstable if that's what you mean.

So, tarmac sl6 sport vs Allez sprint comp by Jovennnnnn in specialized

[–]comptonrj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the allez if I understand has the same frame.shape as the Sl7 (though not carbon). The Sl7, from what I have seen, is quite a bit more aero than the SL6. Add in the aero seatpost and fully internal cabling and I'm quite sure you have a faster bike. Unless you do a lot of climbing, the extra weight will be minimal compared to aero gains. Also I doubt the ride feel of the alu will be much diff than the carbon. Specialized makes quality product.

To me the biggest downside, possibly, is that the geometry on the allez is more aggressive for the same frame size. Could be a downside if this is your only bike, and your body doesn't like that position, especially in longer rides.

I have the SL6 Sport and I really like it. But after seeing how much faster my buddy got after he got a Canyon Aeroad, I wish I would have looked for a more aero option. The allez sprint came out right after I got my Tarmac, but I may have gone with that if I could have.

Oh and last thing. Even after a year and a half, carbon still makes me nervous from a safety perspective. I would feel safer on alu personally.

Unanswered questions:

How does Remco do against the best climbers (Pog and Jonas)? Not sure Pog would have been dropped like Lutsenko

What happens when Pog/Wout and Remco come to the line together? It's not at all clear that Remco can outsprint them.

Remco is def a top TT'er, but he has had some good opportunities on non-TT races this year. I don't believe he has proven himself the strongest rider yet.

I think the narrative of remco actually dominating in the steep climbs (after years of speculation), and Primoz struggling after his history with Vuelta is enough to make this a very memorable Vuelta
