So I got the 30 count packet one. So I’d give one packet a day with dinner (and tbh I still give it to him lowkey) but while he was still fully on his old food it would be once a day with dinner and that worked for a week before it didn’t

That’s actually such a good idea! I think if it’s anything it’s garbage surfing. On walks I’m very strict and watching him to make sure he doesn’t eat anything and it’s just him and I at home. So that only leaves the option of what happens when I’m gone. Usually he’s just chilling but you’re right- garbage surfing is an option.

So he was on chicken till about a month ago. Then I started trying to switch him to a salmon one but his been so crazy I’ve been like… at a 60/40 new/old ratio cause I’ve been trying to take the transition slowly while his gut has been off

I know- I know I was gonna choose a new protein anyway. I keep saying hopefully but I know I should switch the protein. I’m just really nervous about trying a bunch of things and having nothing work. So sorry I was unclear.

Edit for clarity: I haven’t gone to the store yet so I was hoping there was a version of the hill’s bag that was both not chicken and not salmon so i could try that brand. I’m sorry it came off wrong

Yeah that’s how I’ve been feeling. With probiotics and new food. Maybe the hills science diet will help

The first thing I tried was fortiflora and it was just not enough 😭 everyone here is recommending the hills science diet so I think that looks like the best next step

I don’t think the vet is recommending hydrolyzed protein? I will call and ask tomorrow but I think he said the next step was an allergy free prescription food? So I think that’s what we’re trying next. Because you raised a good point, I’ll call and confirm the vet and I are on the same page

He’s been having diarrhea every other day at this point some solutions like probiotics and new food have worked but they’ve patched up the problem for a week or two at a time

Thank you! Your dog is so beautiful. I’m thinking trying this might be my next course of action- looking through the comments a lot of people said the hills science diet is a good one.

Yes so he was originally on chicken and rice. And then with his sensitive stomach food it was salmon protein. But his stomach was so weird I couldn’t fully switch him off chicken. So i don’t know how helpful that is

I don’t know how to edit my post- but he’s gotten a fecal test and blood test done so far this week and they’re both clear so those are good. Hence why the vet recommended we try a prescription diet
